Not many rising seniors (class of 2026) in Florida have had as impressive an offseason as Justin Edwards. After testing in the upper percentile and holding his own in coverage during 1-on-1s at an Under Armour camp in February, the off-ball defender shined this past week for Orlando Edgewater in a three-team jamboree as he made multiple stops in the box and out on the perimeter.​

Toss in the fact that Edwards – who is believed to be under 200 pounds – was a regional qualifier in two throwing events this spring, and it's clear that the arrow is pointing up.​
​
A former safety, Edwards possesses the ideal blend of athleticism and physicality to make an impact at the second level of any defense. His grade has jumped from a three-star 86 to a high three-star 89 on 247Sports.​

Edwards reminds us of former Auburn linebacker Jamien Sherwood, who was selected in the fifth round of the 2021 NFL Draft by the New York Jets. Syracuse, Rutgers, Miami and Missouri are all involved in Edwards' recruitment. – Andrew Ivins, 247Sports director of scouting​

Assumed he wouldn't be visiting because he just committed to Rutgers, but Orlando (Fla.) Edgewater LB Justin Edwards tells me he will be in Coral Gables this weekend. Was on the original official visit list and is now back on it after that confirmation that he would be in. Miami's defensive staff is high on this kid. -Gaby (InsideTheU)

Miami has another big visit weekend set up as it continues to push for a top 5 class. Here is the latest I am hearing:

- The Canes are being aggressive in prioritizing top local talent. WR Calvin Russell (Northwestern) visits this weekend and is a major priority regardless of what happens with other top targets. The same is true for next week's visitor, WR Jasen Lopez (Chaminade)- I don't believe he is an either/or with WR Vance Spafford (Orange County, CA) and the Canes want him badly. I continue to like the Canes for elite RB Derrek Cooper...

The Bank is back open. Here's the latest as Miami heads into its final official visit weekend:

- The Canes have made progress with several key targets. I like Miami for Top 10 DT James Johnson (Northwestern). War daddy DTs are the most valuable commodity in college football and Johnson would be a hugely impactful addition.

- I also like Miami for Top 10 TE Israel Briggs (Visalia, CA). While LSU's mods questioned whether he would play WR or TE, I'm told the staff is comfortable with his frame as a detached TE in our offense. He announces next Tuesday.
