just wanted to say one thing -- football IQ

And thats what scares me.....cant even blame that on Manny....Mario and Mirobal coached dude for 3 years and he was snapping bad and late all day...he was a lil shook today....needs a bit more sazon...definately a downgrade from Clark who is really solid.

Go, every snap it seemed in the second half seemed a bit off. And I believe some false starts, really werent the fault of the guys that they were calling the flags on. It was odd.

When bleeding the clock was a given, Van Dyke ran a play with :14 left on the playclock on the 1st down BEFORE the game-sealing 3rd down conversion. So yeah, football IQ and the coaching of situational awareness is definitely questionable.
****, they snapped the ball with :12 or more left multiple times while trying to run clock late in the 4th. Never seen that in 50 years of watching football. No rational excuse.

The victory formation wasnt Mario not knowing. It was making sure TVD took a breathe…relaxed and received the snap. Our luck he is all juiced and fumbles the snap and they scoop and score. Crazy…yes. But little things add up to big successes over time.

That makes no one feel better… at all

Yea he wasnt sure of the clap cadence....Scaife **** near punched him on one of the false starts and Denis pointed at TVD. But it was clear as day as EVERYONE else on the offense was moving but him. I think Denis may be learning at the position i know he didnt play it in high school and may have been a guard at oregon...this was like his first extensive starting game so will give some leeway...but it was baaaaaddd yesterday. It was some that werent even called...and wait until dts get a jump on his slow snap...Problem

This is a lazy argument made by fans of every team that is not playing well. I guarantee that on an Ivy League message board people are completing about the low football IQ’s at Harvard and Princeton.
Football, for every position except QB, is an easy sport to learn. So unless you actually believe that our players, despite how articulate they are and despite their good grades, are just less intelligent than players on other teams (as though we statistically recruit players with lower sports IQ’s, or better yet, that other teams actively seek out players with higher sports IQ’s ), this argument is an oversimplification of why we are playing poorly. And is generally made by people who would freeze up like b*tches were they ever to play in a game themselves.

yeah, I do think we have some less intelligent football players. And yeah, players at Ivy League schools probably have guys with low football IQ's too.

It happens

But less intelligent than which school? Because statistically I think your argument is implausible. Not impossible but implausible.

Surprising that we wouldn't have an alternative method like the guard tapping the center to let him know to snap the ball, or even the center looking thorugh his legs to see the QB give a signal.

less intelligent for what UM thinks it is, or should be. We aren't comparing SAT scores, or at least Im not

Jimmy Johnson says all the time,"Punch me in the face before I take a dumb player."

I get the sense he isn't talking MENSA

I’ve been saying this for years. Miami lacks true football players. Just dudes across the board with instincts, situational awareness, football IQ.

Guys like Jaquan Johnson, Shaq.

The only guy on the team I would confidently say is a true football player is Corey flagg. Kitchens has shown flashes, but has lined up out of position at times.

I think the problems we are having this year have to do with a highly intelligent coaching staff not being able to dumb down what they know to a lower IQ team.

Every single coach on this team is highly regarded and has a great resume. They’re probably just struggling communicating what they need the players to do which is on them, but the players are doing them zero favors

go back to our best teams -- they were smart and intelligent on the field. They knew how to play the game. They played sophisticated systems that were replicated in the NFL, and thrived.

Now, a good deal of this is coaching, lets not absolve them. But generally players who know what they are doing really put a lot of work into this game. We all know Cristobal has to bring in guys that love the game(not just what it brings to them).
