about **** time they got caught playing clemson this year and fsu next.

them dropping an extra ACC game significantly helps miami win the coastal.

if they had to play one of clemson or FSU every year we would had already won the coastal in the past

They can lose every game in the Atlantic, Its how they/we do in the coastal

Huh? A cross division loss is still an ACC loss. OPs point still stands.

Finally, two years with VT playing a real cross division game. Was sick of them playing Wake Forest every year for decades while we played FSU.

Bonus: One teams fanbase is gonna be in meltdown Labor Day. Well, maybe not VT's if they lose, as their fans accept losing to real teams they play once in a while. Imagine a FSU loss, and ensuing QB controversy, for Taggerts first game. LOL

Yeah great point OP

I never considered the fact that VT doesn't have to play FSU like we do. What a freaking sham

To be fair, though, if we would have beat the UNC's, Wake's, UVA's, and Pitt's the way we were capable of we would have already won the Coarstal in the past as well.

Yes so that loss the last 7 years put us behind the 8ball and gave VT a huge advantage

What sucks now is we are stuck playing leavitt and bud foster every year

VT cross division rival is BC, not WF. They do have it easy. I dont think losing to FSU was the reason we were stuttering though. Before this season we had never won more than 5 ACC games.

Who cares? We beat VT head to head we win the costal even if we lose to FSU.

If we’re dropping games every year to the garbage teams that reside in our division (Duke, Pitt, UVA) we don’t deserve to win the coastal anyway.

VT will win that game. FSU OL is ***, and they are breaking in new schemes on both sides.

The sentiment is that Miami has come close to winning the Coastal over the past dozen years and on occasion came up a game short, here or there. Every one of those year the Canes faced the Noles—going 4-10 against the arch-rival since joining the ACC in 2004—while the likes of Virginia Tech, Georgia Tech or North Carolina didn't have that annual showdown against one of the conference's best.

I don't have the inclination to go back every year, but I'm willing to bet it would make a huge difference if VT played FSU every year while we played BC. Go back every year and give them another L and us another W, except when we actually played BC and lost like in 2011 and it's probably a given we would have been in the title game at least twice, maybe more.

VT on the road is always a tough out for us. Our road to the coastal next year runs through Blacksburg as usual.

As much as I love the homer logic, even if Miami loses to FSU every year and beats everyone else they're "supposed" to, that would leave a 1-loss Miami and a 0-loss VT (according to this argument). Meaning all Miami has to do is beat VT and they're in. But that has not been the case. If Miami played FSU AND Clemson every year and VT played neither, I could see it.

I was "run out of the WEZ"?

I think 2005 is the only year it would have made a difference....we lost to FSU then beat #3 VT.......but lost that game after to GT at home and lost the division.

VT has had a huge advantage while we got FSU every year and GT got Clemson every year. There will never be a year where VT plays both Clemson, FSU, Louisville and NC State.....where GT and US will have that 4 out of every 7 years.

To put it in math terms over a 7 year period. 14 cross division games.

10 of the 14 games for US/GT will be against those teams (with 3 times getting 2 of them)
Only 4 of the 14 games for VT will be against a those teams

That is a huge scheduling advantage that gets ignored.....Really need BC to get back to being a 8-9 win team they used to be that can at least beat VT every other year to level the playing field.

I wish they would realign. Move FSU into our division, ship VT out and get rid of the rivalry games to balance the schedule fairly.

Why not count only division games for record? The whole cross division rivalry matchups are just for Miami-FSU anyway
