Something Big is Coming

A couple of weeks ago (when Oliver turned 1!), I brought my out-of-town family to the Coral Gables campus for a tour. It happened to be the same weekend as the Beaux Arts Festival. I came across a couple of paintings I really liked and had to have one for my office. It’s a picture of a big man in red pants, with antenna and boxing gloves, surrounded by a dozen sketched stick faces with various expressions. The artist explained that each of the faces represents an opportunity for how we can be perceived by the rest of the world — happy, grumpy, perplexed, stressed — and the choices we make about how to “show up each day.” The big man in the middle is something you can’t go around, you can’t go through, you have to confront — like we do each time we face the day. The title, of course, is “Something Big is Coming.”

Everyone ignore this. It's just a troll job. That was an email sent by the COO of the University of Miami Health System. I posted the same paragraph he did but with the last sentence, which he happened to leave out. Can post the rest of the email if you want to see it but it has nothing to do with football

The title, of course, is “Something Big is Coming.” When I heard that, it made me think of UHealth and what we are encountering in the changing healthcare economy, in advancing research and in our efforts to make this the best place to work in the world, and the best place to be seen as a patient.
