Just Home from the game.. My Thoughts (Not Bleak)

Sat with Arkansas State fans.. My next door neighbpor is a grad. I heard I was on TV from friends.... According to ARkansas State fans we are better then Tennesee... What that means I dont know.. Except for that last TD run, our defense was alligned all night. Jamal Carter and Deon Bush cannot break down and tackle in the open field they missed plenty of open field tackles.. Which gave them yards. Tracy Howard has regressed he is stil our best cover corner but he gives up too many jump balls he is not aggressive enough when the ball is in the air. DUke JOhnson broke more tackles this game then he has in any game in his whole career. He is definitely stronger then last year and it shows. Gus is also much more powerful. Coley's trick plays were horrible but I understand why we did it..Arkansas ST. swarms to the ball and he tried to catch themoff guard but it looks like we were ready for it.He still sucks as a play caller.. Defensively we ran a lot of man cover 1 which was beautiful to see. TO be honest Coach D called a great game some of our players just didnt make some plays. Arkansas ST only had 329 yards of offense. We didnt get a pass rush because we were trying to contain their running QB we dared him to throw which was a sound gameplan. This is evident due to the fact that n the fourth qtr Kamalu and others went off.

We need to run the same defense against the nebraska and trust our corners and safetys to make tackles. We did improve we looked better than we did against FAMU.

Roger that....any defensive problems we had today was on the players IMO (mostly missed tackles)......the floaters they kept completing were ****ing me off though...not impressed with our corners so far, especially TH3

BlackVern I was saying the same thing in another thread about the Defensive play calling. You got posters on here saying our D still sucks but at some point the players need to step up. I thought Dno called a pretty good game. Now is he Kirby Smart? No. But ****, baby steps. The tackling by our safeties has to get better and Tracy Howards girlfriend must have broke up with him or something. What the heck is wrong with that kid? Hes gonna look up and Crawford is going to take his minutes if he keeps it up.

Feel a little better about chances against NEB this weekend. My prediction went from us getting blown out to us maybe making this a close game. And in close games anything can happen especially when you have the better athletes.

As I said two weeks ago, NoD is going to prove to be our best (or least bad) coach on this staff. That's not a compliment, though he did call a good game. Coley's play calling is befuddling. There's no continuity. The trick plays were ridiculous. But we clearly have a talent behind center. Unfortunately, the right side of our line is as bad as any since the 70s.

The Arky state fans were cool? I was surprised how cool the NC fans were last year.. nothing like the drunk ***** in Tallahassee.
 
What is you guys opinion on the never ending rotation of corners so far this season ? I feel like there is a different corner in the game **** near every snap. Am I the only bothered by this ?
 
Tracy has regressed exponentially this season and tbh I don't even think he's our best cover corner still and if he is then we are in trouble. Really disappointed by his play thus far

agree with all you said Vern.


It's weird... 1 spot I definitely was not worried about this year was the Secondary. And they are turning into one of the team's biggest weaknesses. Our safeties can't tackle in the open field and our CBs have zero ball skills. Mind boggling.

Our OL has also looked terrible through 3 games.

DL and LB have been a pleasant surprise and everything else is about where I expected.
 
It's always bleak before it's bright ( or something like that)
