Just finished watching Ohio State Indiana

Mendoza against Oregon twice, Penn State, Ohio State, and Iowa:

84/127 (66%), 1063 yards (8.4 YPA), 10 TDs, 4 INTs

Mendoza against the other 10 piles of ****:

172/225 (76%), 2286 yards (10.2 YPA), 31 TDs, 2 INTs

Isn’t that something.
I knew he piled it on on some bad teams and he's definitely the best QB in the country, but didn't expect the numbers to be like that. Basically 2:1 TD/INT rate against decent defenses.

**** no man lol, he cool but people hyping him like he the #1. Our dbs nice but jit was a no show how he get a pass, every osu wr thats been elite get their game off no matter what how is the offense not doing him favors?
Because in their offense HE’S the decoy not Jeremiah smith lol he’s 6’3 200 and can run routes like he’s a slot WR. He’ll be like pick 6 in a few months and we can revisit this after he does silly **** as a rookie

And if you take away the 5 TD game last week against Oregon he’s at 67-107, 62%, 886, 5 TD 4 INT. I know you can cherry pick stats but it sure seems like if a DL can get pressure he ain’t the Heisman winner. Kind of the opposite of Chambliss who is a magician back there under pressure, this guy comes back to earth.

I do think Indiana's WR are underrated and can give us problems

These arent the tall but lanky types that Ole Miss has or even a Carnell Tate who was afraid againt us

These guys are big and dont mind contact

Yep. And to be fair, if you're an Indiana fan and you want to say those games were a while ago (where he struggled), and he's playing his best ball right now, there's truth to that. He has 5 incompletions and 8 TDs in his last 2 games. That's insane. But the fact remains that he did almost all of his damage against pathetic competition. He has not faced a pass rush like Miami's, full stop.

Oregon is 70th in the country in sacks per game. Miami is 3rd. Oregon gave up 500 yards to James Madison, at home.

I am fully confident that Miami's defense is just as good as Ohio State's. If you want to say it's better because we beat them, sure. But the bottom line is, they have 4 first-rounders on that defense, and that's just in this draft. Might be more in the next year or two with the younger kids.

And against that defense, Indiana scored 13 points, they averaged 5.96 YPP (good, certainly not great), and Mendoza was 15/23 for 222 yards, 1 TD and 1 INT. Joe Burrow in 2019 did that in a quarter most weeks.

Indiana's backs also ran the ball 29 times for 121 yards in that game, which is decent, not great. They sacked Mendoza 3 times.

I see absolutely no reason we can't hold their offense to something similar to what Taint did. Maybe not 13 points, but low 20's is a reasonable expectation. We can't score 20 points on these clowns?

The Indiana extreme glazing going on sure does show the fickleness of college football fans and media. Two years ago, Indiana was, well, Indiana. A basketball school that hadn’t been relevant in that sport for a couple decades more or less. Two years later and I’m reading stories about this is the greatest CFB team of all time? GTFOH with that. No. Oregon puked all over themselves last game and their defense stinks. We can get home with 4/5 and drop 6/7. We will be fine.

And some of the posters on this board need to consider seeing their urologist. First question? Doc, I can’t find my pee pee. Can you help me?

I’m tried of seeing the upside down U. I’m tired of the slander. I’m tired of being kicked and spat upon for 20+ years by a bunch of fuggin loser CFB fans who couldn’t get into Miami yet call us thugs. We’ve manhandled two SEC teams and the B1G bad boys up front. If we play a clean game, we win by 10.

It's going to be a Mario rock fight. We are built for this, we practice this everyday. I love our chances for #6.

Mendoza has been pretty good in the playoff games and that's because Oregon and Bama could not stop them running the ball. But in the other big games he played during the season, he was pretty average to ok. He threw picks in all of them. Most of his TD's came against really bad teams. Which is to be expected. But he is not some unflappable guy.

The more i inspect them the more i realize they are kinda overrated. They typically destroy bad teams or teams who cannot stop their run. Bama and Oregon were equally overrated to be honest. Indiana is a good team but its disrespectful to mention them with 2019 LSU. Their 3 OOC games were Old Dominion, Kennesaw St and Indiana St. 2019 LSU played Texas on the road and played really good SEC teams, pre portal.

I was pretty shocked that the narrative coming out of the Oregon game was that Indiana was suddenly a juggernaut. I watched that game thinking, "my god, I don't think I've ever seen a team collapse like Oregon has". My takeaway wasn't, "my god, Indiana is unstoppable". The best 4 teams are left and if you hand one of them 28 points it's going to be a blowout.

Honestly, this is how I experienced the game:

First play, pick 6, worst start you could possibly have and a very random play. Credit to Indiana but that is one of the most abnormal starts to a game you could ever have. Ok, so with 10 minutes left in the 2nd quarter, for all intents and purposes the game is tied IMO. The difference is a pick 6 but both teams have had long scoring drives at this point. Oregon almost forces a fumble out of Mendoza at midfield when he gets hit. They're forced to punt. Oregon can go down and tie the game after a pretty bad start. This is their moment.

The very next play Moore fumbles it at the 3 yard line because he hit his own running back with the ball. This has nothing to do with Indiana. This is literally handing another team 7 points and, at that point, absolute control of the game. I've never seen that play happen before. Ever. So now you're 1.5 quarters in and two plays have occurred that are so unbelievably abnormal that I'm sitting there focused on Oregon, not Indiana, for how bad this has gone. It's 21-7 Indiana and Oregon is now going to have to pass, pass, pass to keep up. They get to 2nd a 3 at midfield and take a sack on 4 second drop back for Moore. Everyone is running go routes for them, they're not even trying to pick up the 1st down to keep the ball and go down to score 7. I kept thinking, if they can just go down and score a TD here to make it 21-14 they're going to feel really good about themselves. Just keep driving down the field. Two terrible sacks later and they're punting.

Indiana goes and scores a TD because they're just taking shots with a big lead. There's no tension or fear anymore for them. It's just go have fun. But even after Indiana goes and scores a TD I'm thinking if they can get it to 28-14 it will still feel like a win heading into halftime given the worst half of football I've seen in a long time. Another 4 second drop back and Moore fumbles. That's it. Nothing past that point matters anymore. The game is over and it's over because Oregon imploded. I don't care that Indiana went and scored 28 more points from there. There's no more fear you're going to lose that game. You can do whatever you want.

Indiana is a very good team. Probably the best team in the country. If you hand any top 10 team 3 TDs in the 1st half it's going to be an absolute blowout. Miami was up 14-0 on Ohio State, a team that just went to the wire with Indiana, after ONE pick 6. Imagine if Ohio State also fumbled inside their own 20 twice in the first half? What's the score in that game? What's the narrative about Miami coming out of that game? Would any of that be true or would Miami still be the same team we think they are?

If he’s pick 6 then this draft is trash lmao, im not saying hes trash but he’s by far the worst of the osu wrs. I see a nico collins type player which is cool

It was one of those games that got out of hand due to early mistakes. I give them credit for capitalizing on those, and stomping on a beaten team's throat.

We are going to pick him TWICE due to pressure
And law of averages
We won’t drop all four
Mendoza throws on anticipation, the pressure helps but he can be gotten on disguised looks.

That and he looks kind of like young Vinny Testeverde.
