Several outstanding candidates have expressed serious interest in the vacancy but must do so on background because they don't want their current employer to know they are looking around in the event they don't get the job. If it got out that candidates were putting feelers out so close to NLOI Day that could impact a school's recruiting. Trying to get an interview on the low is virtually impossible in this environment.

If it was going to be Applewhite or Fedora, I think it would have been done and announced by now. Something is up. Separately:

Agree, however,if it’s Applewhite the delay could be with his O staff, working out details to extract from contracts. Some coaches can be ****s about leaving, just sayin’. But wtf do I know.

You know, I totally hear you on this, but why not just name him OC and let the staff announcements come later?

From Barry Jackson's article tonight:

As opposed to automatically settling for someone who would automatically take the job, Diaz has reached high in his offensive coordinator search, which has delayed the process a bit. He contacted a coach with at least one of the college playoff teams.

Nothing more on which of the teams it could be - maybe it is Clemson, as we have all discussed. But it could be Bama or Oklahoma or ND

I’ll take a longer process if it means being thorough and actually forcing the elite candidates to tell you no.

Our BOT could’ve learned a thing or two from Manny when Richt retired.

It could be Clemson or Bama or OU. He's not stupid enough to go after anyone on that wholly inept ND staff.

There’s more back-door meetings going on than in Kenneth and NYs Cruise Ship bunk

Interesting, could be Scott, lots of noise around that camp, Clemson just won a Title too, I can see him leaving, would have to think it’s crazy for Dabo to let any of his OCs go to Miami tho, especially if he knows how legit we’ll be if we have half of a good offense, more competition for him in the ACC, great recruiter, not sure on the Xs and Os?. Notre Dame OC chip long did call plays this season and they had their best season offensively and statistically since 2012, they also did it with an ok QB in Ian brook, problem tho, is that ND offensive line been tough since last year with Quentin Nelson and Mike McGlinchey. Their O-line is way better than ours and I don’t want O-line problems being used as an excuse to mask any offensive problems, Bedenbaugh is an exciting name, comes from Mike Leech coaching tree, Bob stoops hired him as offensive line coach, Lincoln Riley promoted him to OC, so already he’s learned from 3 of the most innovative offensive minds and is an O-line coach himself, makes around $500k, can pay him more, Only concern tho is that I don’t think he calls plays.
