I personally like these 2 Cats and their film; time will tell if they have what it takes. I am wondering, if we can't get any Top QB's in the country, do we just go for 30-50 ranked QB's and use the portal for the next few years for a QB (assuming Cam shows out)?

I know we have not had the WR/Offense to make top QB's want to come here. Cam may change that, for sure.

How you guys feel about these 2 QB's, can they take us all the way in the future, or will we always be chasing a portal QB? Maybe we just need a year or two of ******* downfield offense. Don't know.

Thoughts?

Nickel will be very good if not great. Watch him play. I’ve seen him once in person and once on TV when they won the state championship and he was completely in control.
I wish he was a freshman this year and could see Ward carry himself and his work ethic.

Is it worth 2 to 3 million per year to have these dudes riding the pine? It’s not my money, but it does have limits. I’d rather spend it on developing DT or OL and grab a proven transfer.

Mario is strong recruiter but ain't developing a QB.. just get a portal QB and lean into your strength **** it.. get a proven QB in portal and keep these bench arms where they belong

Our goal should be to have cam be a Heisman quality QB, at least go to ceremony and go first round.. he does that and boom we become a destination for other QBs.. if Dawson and Mario find a way to **** THIS up?!

I am sold on Nickel.

w/r/t Anderson, I really disliked the take as he was throwing picks left and right. But after he transferred, his new HS coach figured out how to mitigate that and he ended his senior season with a great run. Very high completion percentages, led his team to the playoffs, very few picks. Dawson likes him . What do I know?
 
Fans think that high end QBs grow on trees, they don't. Evaluations are key, and from what I've seen of Nickel, the dude can play. Judd has some solid physical tools, but he's raw as a passer. There's a good chance he transfers out after a year or two, unless he develops into the starter. Nickel has the potential to be a legit star. Give me a guy with the physical tools and the IT factor, and I'll show you someone that can be **** good, very quickly.

It's obvious that Mario understands that NIL money isn't some bottomless pit, he has to prioritize positions and whatnot. Mario is building inside out, with extremely strong line play the bedrock of the program. Miami will never hurt for playmakers on the outside and at tailback. If Miami can consistently churn out solid to good QBs, the wins will come. Yes, I'd love it if someone stepped up and told Mario "Hey, I will personally guarantee any NIL money for whatever top end QB you want", but that likely isn't happening. We've all heard the rumors of what Bell is going to get from Texas and if it is anywhere near true, it's insanity. I wouldn't spend that money on a guy that likely won't play year one.

It's not like Mario hasn't tried or come extremely close to landing a high end QB, but things happen. In today's NIL landscape, it may make more sense to take some fliers(and top end guys you lock down early) from the HS ranks and then throw the bulk of your money at proven commodities in the transfer portal, if what you land in traditional recruiting doesn't work out.

I always love when we talk about guys like Mario “ruining QBs”. Like the guy has had a line of 5* QBs bust under him. Meanwhile a guy like Lincoln Riley is considered some kind of QB savant when he’s had multiple 5* QBs bust under him. Doesn’t make a lot of sense. At the end of the day, it’s difficult to predict HS QB’s. I’d rather take flyers on HS QB’s then also take proven portal QBs.
 
Man skipped the main character Cam Ward like that wasn’t a recruiting win lmao

Let’s fit that narrative though that’s what’s more important than anything, must keep the slander alive. Let’s focus on the NPC’s only.
