JUCO de Austin Roberts

He is not sure if there is any room for him in the class.
The staff hasn't spoken to him personally that often, but speaks to his dad all the time
The staff will be visiting him soon
The next time the staff does visit or call him he will commit on the spot
He is a december grad and will OV on the 17th

Thanks for sharing. If he is Dec grad then he won't make the 3 consecutive semesters at the same juco requirement per ACC rules, since he was at East Mississippi JUCO for the 2013 season. Best case would be if he transferred out for the start of spring semester at NE Oklahoma A&M, then he could qualify with having attended for Spring '14, Fall 14, and then take a class in Spring '15. Unless he was a full Qualifier coming out of Hgh School, he will be subject to the transfer rule.

Sounds like the young man is eager to be a cane.

Fall of 2013 he was at East Mississippi Jr College. He has now transferred to NE Oklahoma A&M Jr College. The ACC requires an incoming JUCO transfer to have spent the last 3 semesters at the same jr college ( excluding summer and winter sessions). With that being the case Roberts would best case scenario be available for next summer, but that maybe doubtful.

You sure about it being the same JUCO? I was always under the impression it was 3 semesters in a JUCO program.

"A nonqualifier who transfers to a conference institution from a two-year college must have graduated with an AA degree, satisfactorily completed a minimum of 48 semester or 72 quarter hours with a cumulative GPA of 2.0 on transferable degree credit acceptable toward any baccalaureate degree program at the certifying institution, and have attended the two-year college as a full-time student for at least three semesters or four quarters (excluding summer terms) in order to be eligible for competition, practice, and athletically related financial aid. A nonqualifier who transfers to a conference institution from a four-year college outside the ACC must, in addition to meeting all NCAA rules regarding such transfers, have satisfactorily completed 48 semester or 72 quarter hours with a cumulative GPA of 2.0 on transferable degree credit acceptable toward any baccalaureate degree program at the certifying institution, and have attended the four- year college as a full-time student for at least three semesters or four quarters (excluding summer terms) in order to be eligible for competition, practice, and athletically relate"

Lol, if this was before this class of DL got in, I would say sign him up. And I still do say that right now. But I would still go after bigger targets as well, sort it out in the end.

Yes "Attended THE two year college" implies the same school otherwise it would say "A" instead of The. This is why UM almost lost JUCO Micheal Wyche last year and he had to go back for another semester.

Am i wrong for saying give him jamie's spot?

Hek yeah JAMIE GORDINIER will be player at UM for the next 4 years. You never take a JUCO over a prep player that has the same or better potential, since you get long term stability with high level performance from the prep player where as a JUCO could be a 1 and done type with a very good season. Not to mention Gordinier can play in space.

Also Gordinier could be an early enrollee where as Roberts can't.

Agreed never saw jamie film i can agree that he plays in space pretty much more than not pass rush needs to develop but the kid isnt even a senior yet kid could end up a pleasant surprise in a couple years.

Not to mention UM's defense over the years have been at their best with a bad *** white brother from another mother dawning the mythical #44. We were denied the pleasure of having 2012 LB Josh Witt dawn the #44 due to concussion problems,I tell you he would have been a good one. So I look foward to seeing Gordinier dawn the 44 unless UM can find a better one.

Back to the OP Topic, I agree with staff taking a wait and see approach with Roberts with limited spots available an when he will arrive on campus still in question.

As long as he meets the credit requirements I'd ask for opinion on that or challenge it.
