Javon Nanton was a walk-on who was a pretty good player for UM. A serviceable player. I believe Aaron Moser and Jeff Popovich were originally walk-ons too.

Javon, by technical definition of how he joined the team, was a walk-on. Literally a walk-on like Santana was. He was in the good ol' days when Miami would slide a 4 star level guy on the team via track scholarship.

No slight to the esteemed Mr. Popovich, but my dog was on a different planet as a recruit than him or any other walk-on we could mention.

We all graduated in '01. That cycle, Willie Jones from CC later FSU was considered the best DE/Edge in the state. That was one of biggest crocks of **** I've heard in the last 25 years. That senior season, I played against Carol City and Springs. Nanton>>>>>>>Jones.

But Javon didn't have an NFL dad, Walt Frazier, and 12-15 other D1-A level players on his team also. Dudes slipped through the cracks back in '01, and bruh definitely was in that group. Had he did like Willis and Nuke, he would've been a waaay bigger recruit than he was.

I'm just glad that we were leaders in alternative talent acquisition back then. Otherwise, could you imagine a world in which we woulda had to deal with playing Loserville with a Nanton-Dumervil duo screaming off the edges?!?!

Fam, that's Home Team right there. Been down with him, Willis and Nuke since the sandbox. All of us are from the same area(Brown Sub/Gladeview). Parents grew up together. ****, my aunt's crib is right between Nuke and Javon's grandmothers' houses.

I grew up across the street from Big Gene(Willis's brother's pops) before I moved to Carol City. Bruh, we all used to push that Black F-150 that ESPN filmed Willis pushing for rehab after the Suckeye sucka **** up and down 56th Street...

I heard Gene died a few years back. Never bothered to ask Willis though. Javons a wild boy ain't he. Glad to see family life is treating him well. He called me a lil while back with this fooley idea. Hope he gets it all rockin. Had dj remind him how tough that business is though. If anyone can do it javon will.
 
Str8 clown bruh!!! Him and Nuke when we was jits, them boys'll have you rollin'!!! Two things about Javon, bruh gone stay fly and make you laugh. **** man, I remember when we were at Springs Middle, I was a head taller than both of them before they hit their growth spurts lol.

It's been a lil while since I've seen any of those boys tho. Willis is who I've seen most recently, but that was near exactly two years ago. Unfortunately, it was at my younger cousin's wake and funeral.

That was the last time I spoke to Gene Sr. and Jr. also. You got some bad info too, fam. I just called my ol' girl and asked before I posted this and she said Big Gene is good and still holdin' it down on the old block...
