I believe coming out of HS he was supposed to be a really good pitching prospect. It was just extra positive his hitting was good. So I’m not sure what they view him as.

Given TJS recovery time is usually a min of 12 months for pitchers, and is also usually tougher on slider heavy pitchers like Gates, if he's back next year I'm guessing he'll be a DH/OF only.

He had surgery on Wednesday. It went as planned. If he puts the work in, and Lord willing, he’ll be ready for next season.
