2027 Joshua Sam-Epelle 4* OT from Douglasville, GA (Douglas County) Commits to GTech

Easy! I got those "Fruits of our Labor" Jordan 3's from SoleFly and I'll wear my Sean Taylor throwback jersey. That should do the trick.
I always wondered how that works with the adidas deal.. I know jason taylor and Mali have worn those 3s.. How did that come about? Jordan making collab with UM or was in not an official collab

He plans to visit Miami on May 29, Georgia on June 5, LSU on June 12 and Tennessee on June 19.

Sam-Epelle said he has come close to committing in the past but decided to slow things down to make sure he makes the right choice.

At this point in the process, three programs have positioned themselves well.

“Georgia, Miami and Tennessee are up there,” Sam-Epelle told Rivals. “They are high on my list, and it will come down to my experience on the visits and the little things that separate one from the others.”

Miami remains a major contender for Sam-Epelle. He has made one visit to Coral Gables, but plans to make at least two more.
“They are great with development,” he said. “They had a great season, they have good coaches and a good track record. Miami also has big linemen my size, and I like that.”

Decision expected after official visits

Sam-Epelle plans to take his time before making a commitment.

“I want to commit after my official visits,” he said. “Development is No. 1 for me. Relationships are next. Football is not always there, so that connection and the resources will be big for me.”

From UGA 247 today…
This is happening, and then I’d guess it’s probably go all out for Matthews/Olu, get 1 of them and shut it down for OT’s. Just my guess. I don’t think we’d allocate the resources to get both of them, nor do we NEED both after the OT class from last cycle.

Sam-Epelle OT
Matthews/Olu OT
Linton OT/OG
Tatum OG
Russell OC/OG

Jatori is still a huge piece out there too, some decisions will likely have to be made.

“But wanted to brace folks for one that might not. Douglas County (Ga.) offensive lineman Joshua Sam-Epelle has been viewed as a major target for some time. That said, other schools are trending up more than Sam-Epelle right now when it comes to his official visit schedule. Even though I have an outdated Crystal Ball pick in for Sam-Epelle right now, I'd lean more toward Miami or a few others getting him right now. It's not even a guarantee Sam-Epelle will take an official visit to Georgia this summer. Some of that is still in the works, but that's the latest Dawgs247 intel.”

We back boys it feels good to be rich

We’ve turned down a group of players who would’ve been the top 5 rated commits in a Diaz year.
Cant Believe This Season 5 GIF by HULU
Yeah because Diaz would be only looking st their rankings and not their own evaluation, which is proven and trusted. Even though we have had misses regardless of that

I honestly get the sense the staff went all-in on Matthews and are now punting on pursuing any higher level OT/allocating resources elsewhere now

Odd, you would think we’d be hard pivoting post Matthews. I guess not, oh well I trust the staff on OL.

Just seems they really think they hit a home run at tackle last season with 3 and possibly 4 guys they like with the obvious stud and 3 year starter Cantwell. Matthews was likely the only one they are breaking the bank for. They obviously still want the best they can get, but they aren't going the extra dollar.

Apparently not moving onto him post Matthews .

Gaby:
I am also under the impression that Miami has moved on from Top50 OL Joshua Sam-Epelle and he won't take an OV next weekend.
well this is a bummer!! I was really hoping we'd add Sam at OT and Jatori at IOL as the final pieces to our OL class

Seems odd to move on, am I missing something?
We always had players higher on the board even when JSE mentioned us as the leader; both of them in the state of Georgia in Tyler Ford and UGA commit Kelsey Adams. Our heavy interest in the latter two wasn’t known months ago.

Tyler Ford offers the position-less versatility that Mirabal loves, has a nasty mean streak, and has the prerequisite balanced body control + footwork + measurables to play OT. JSE is more strictly defined as an OT and he isn’t a can’t miss one imo.

We took 6 offensive lineman last year. Additionally, a 3rd year transfer in Meriweather and a JUCO OT. We took 4 offensive lineman in 2025. So 12 new guys in total; and at most we expect two starters, then 2 to 3 more rotation players, outta this group in ‘26 because McCoy, Samson, Rodriguez will have 3 starting spots locked up. We really don’t need to add a guy like JSE or double Olu unless we are all-in on them.

We’re still going all-in on Jatori Williams and if we can’t flip Adams; we will likely replace Z Linton with a developmental OT like Nico Ramos or the other jumbo sized OT that D$ posted about a while back.
