2027 Joshua Dobson 5* CB from NC (William Amos Hough HS)

Elko will do a lot better with a truckload of 5* than Jimbo did…..there’s a big difference in having money than having REAL money…..kind of like comparing someone who is a billionaire with 5-10 billion and comparing him to Elon Musk type money…

They have unlimited funds and after being crap for so many years have gotten numerous big money guys behind the program that are willing to spend whatever to try and win a NC.

There aren't alot of trench guys that are him each cycle, can we find some like Moten consistently? We shall see but those evals are few and far between

Facts Elko will do more than Jimbo can, Jimbo never changed that was his Achilles heel.

They have one big problem still.It's kinda the same problem they had when Jimbo was there. Their offensive staff is trash, and more specifically, they haven't hit on Qb evaluation since Kyler Murray who ended up transferring.

I'm actually kinda stunned they are allowing Elko to promote a first time play caller from within this season and didn't conduct a national search.

Agreed; Elko had a shot with the combo of Klein and Reed last year (as well as unlimited funds) and still fell short.

There's apparently a growing love affair for Elko here and all the money A&M has but what has Elko won in his career?

Until this season Mario was criticized for not winning anything but at least he won something while at Oregon and did some things at FIU. So, why are we getting our panties here about Elko and A&M? What have they ever done?

The money has always been there. NIL or not there's been oil money pumped into the program and the players. Sign all the 5 stars but can you manage that dynamic? Do you have the culture in place?

Until Elko and A&M do something of meaning they can go **** themselves. And anyone here scared of College Station and their *** cult and the lil money, then go find some other program to rep.

Some of you around here need to tighten up

I just wonder if A&M is willing to spend near NFL dollars on an annual basis long term. Not one year. But ten or twenty.

Because if you’re not willing to spend the same on that same class in years 2-4, if you’re not willing to sign the follow on class at the same rate, and you’re not willing to elevate existing players it all collapses.

Just saw that their OC this year has never been an OC....ever. He was co-OC but Klein was really the guy.

Agree on their offensive staff. When Trooper Taylor is an offensive coach and an associated HC, you know what you're dealing with on offense. But, Reed is a difference maker so they will ride him.

Interestingly, they have 3 former Cane coaches on that staff (Ish, Paul Williams, Travis Williams-lol) and also not to mention Pop.

Their offensive staff is BAD. Outside of the OL coach, it's pound for pound one of the worse in the SEC tbh.
 
That oil money is different.
And aren’t they still paying jimbo’s ridiculous buyout?
 
Remember a few years ago when they bought like 8 Five stars and like 18 of the top 100 players? Remember how well it worked out? Elko, IMO, is a better coach than Jimbo but you can't just buy every top guy and expect it to gel.

That's why when people say to me we are at the top of the NIL food chain, I gotta disagree. I understand we choose to allocate ours differently with a big Cantwell win, and then breaking the bank for Beck and now Mensah. But I'm just saying, Tex/Tamu/USC/Oregon, probably OSU seem to be buying whoever they want. Now OSU and to a lesser extent Ore and USC have been winning some football games, but Tamu is off one big season and USC hasn't won in a good while.

When it comes to HS recruiting it makes no sense Tamu is just beating out everyone for everyone lol…Especially when as noted above, they are on the hook for Jimbo too
