Josh Pate: Best Teams Over the Next Five Years

Y'all talk like the man is a new hire... Buddy been there goin on 5 years correct? But now he's gonna do well there. What exactly does that mean as well is not exactly a defined term? Is well just being year in and year out over hyped and finishing with 2 to 3 losses? If so u nailed it. Boy if Dennis green could get ahold of you. Maybe you're not seeing what they just did last year on the recruiting side of things as an aberration. They've always put **** tons of money into recruiting. They just went full tard like ole **** had that one year cause they fed up. Now they're a national threat. Lmao. K.
Recruiting monsters and bringing in loaded classes makes u a national threat. That's how u build the team. If they do not do it this year then they have some problems.

imo recruiting/talent is like 75% of winning in CFB. If you have THE most talented team you're making the CFP often. So IF A&M keeps spending like they did the last year over the next few years.... Honestly if they spend 2/3rds what they spent last year they will definitely have a national championship quality team. The question will be QB. If they nail QB, I don't think Jimbo will stop them from making a CFP. Now will they win a National Championship? I wouldn't bet on it. But would I also bet that their last class was just an aberration and their boosters don't have the money/will to do that for multiple years in a row? No. I think they can definitely keep the payment up pretty high, and from there Jimbo will be able to win if he has a QB.

As for LSU vs ND. I think no matter what LSU just has a far higher ceiling than ND. I think Kelly certainly had ND playing well above their floor, and close to their ceiling. But the negative is the SEC is far harder than what ND plays, and unlike ND you can't just 1-loss your way into the playoff so easily. So the path to the playoff for LSU is far harder than at ND. But I think just the possible ceiling at LSU means he can have more success.

He's been recruiting those dudes... A & m has always paid kids and families off. ALWAYS. This year they just went full tard. Might wanna see him consistently put together classes like that(which he can't by the way since the other schools with the same approach have already became more aggressive as well.) Before you annoint him as the messiah. You guys make habits out of that on here. Make people show results.

I'm not anointing him he already won a Natty before that's the top of the mountain. That's the reason he got hired cause he proved it elsewhere. Just like Kirby those guys will always eventually win cause they stack. Doesn't make them the greatest HC but it's college. It's stack then win with stacked roster...I mean it's pretty simple. He doesn't have to be a rocket scientist he just has to stack and all the big time coaches understand that. If he hadnt won anything then yea I get....just like they were saying about Kirby and I was like he's going to win one eventually cause they paying for the best. Eventually he got it.

Even Orgeron won at LSU. Same with Corchy at UGA despite self sabotaging himself at QB since day one. Dumbo already did it at FSU.

The key is amassing massive talent and hitting big at QB. It’s not some super secret formula.

If that's the logic than how bout Hugh freeze? Sc by the way has continued to stack talent even under clay. How did that work out. Plenty of schools just stack talent. A & m has BEEN getting very good talent(just not in comparison to last year) no team ever has got talent like last cycle a&m. So let's see him make that a pattern. Cause one year ain't stacking nothin especially when that's a common trend in the sec in general.

I agree they have stacked but the problem is have they our stacked bama? UGA did outstack bama for a good while that's why they reached the top. Yea u can stack and get talent but if someone's doing it better how can u beat them? U have to go through them and apparently your playing against a team that outstacked u. Have they lost some toss up games? Yea....same way Utah beat Mario twice....have to keep stacking till it rolls. If we getting at Jimbo we have the same type of HC. I would take Jimbo in a heart beat tbh.

I agree one class doesn't get u that title they have to continue to do that.

Got to Build the OL/Front 7 to be one of the upper echelon teams. If you can't matchup up front then you don't stand a chance, it's what separates the contender's from the pretenders even if you have elite QB play, Georgia just won a National championship with a QB who would be 3rd String here. It's why you see Oklahoma when they get to the CFO they get smacked because they can't matchup up front on both sides. Mario understands that and it's why he's placing such a big emphasis on OL/DL

of those choices, give me the following.
Bama-UGA - UGA for the exact reasons Pate gave (younger coach, already proved they can win at the highest level, recruiting juggernaut

USC-Oklahoma - USC. Love his argument but USC about to own the West Coast and we've seen what they are capable of when they get things rolling. Also, USC has the PAC12 to go through yearly, OU will soon have the SEC

Texas-ND - Texas. Unlimited resources, young coach with possibly the best offensive mind in CFB. Only argument against Texas would be there move into the SEC and ND being independent, in terms of an easier path

LSU-A&M - LSU. Exactly like Pate said, they are the only show in the state and they have proven they can win it 3 times in the last 20 years.

Miami-FSU-UF - Canes and it isn't close. History, tradition, recruiting hot bed, and finally FULL BACKING of the program. We have to beat FSU and UNC every year and then hopefully a year battle with Clemson in the ACC Title game to determine who from the ACC goes to the playoff. No more excuses.
