Seems like Erik’s recruit followed him over. Remember when looking at his stats — that HS games are 32 minutes. His average is similar to Dante Allen and CJ Ingram’s at Montverde’s.

Ranked 290th in the country according to On3 last year. I really like the take in today’s game.

Looks like we added a potential sharpshooting sniper. What stands out to me is scoring 26 against Norland.

From Georgia Board, FWIW:

We had 2 extra scholarships last year. This is why Key and Jaiden Newell got on scholarship.

Key, was a 3 star, based off his raw athleticism and potential to be developed, there are many more 3 stars that would have been more skilled than him but with a lower ceiling. Key also did not really have offers. Those two "FSU and Mizzo" offers were 2 years before he got his UGA offer and most likely no longer offers those schools coaching staffs were extending to him.

It seems like the only other school was Chicago St, one of the worst D1 programs in the country.

I am not trying to dog on him but my point is, we had an extra scholarship and did not want to waste it, and Key wanted to play at a P5 school and develop.

I heard good things about Key in practice and how he had been working, but the reality is he was not a SEC caliber PG/CG. I wish him the best but the reason why it took so long is most likely because CMW did not have it figured out who our next PG would be so why tell the only other PG on the roster to kick rocks, even if he wasn't SEC caliber.

Both parties knew what last season was going to be, and in the long run Key definitely benefited and gets to have 4 years of eligibility left with a year under his belt, and for that I wish him the best as he transfer down to a mid/low major, good kid.

Appreciate the additional info mate. Not plugged in on basketball recruiting as I am football (hate to admit), but saw the news and didn’t see it in the message board at the time. Sounds like we got a good off the bench 2nd team type of player which we also need in addition to the top flight stars.

Doubt he's even that. Probably wouldn't be in the rotation for another year. He redshirted last year so this is essentially a net-new prep recruit.
