Good on you for training the young lad properly going forward he should know when the Canes play, and dress appropriately. As to the wife dilemma, I like the thoughts on making her tag along, it would save you a day of her shopping till she drops, and your credit card too.

Don't worry my wife (who never really followed college ball before) brought home flowers the morning of LSU that were purple and yellow. I gave the flowers to my elderly neighbor while she was in the shower. Still believe that is the only reason we lost and I blame her for it everyday.

Don't ban her from the trip, but ordering her to do "hard" labor would be nice........................
 
In my experience the best way to keep a woman from complaining is to keep a caulk shoved down her throat.
 
Your son may not realize it now but one day when he's a father he will thank you
