Cantwell isnt redshirting. Even if we do get Seaton and Bell comes back, Cantwell would get a go at guard with Samson.

Can you imagine the following
LT - Seaton
LG - Samson
C - Rodriguez
RG - Cantwell
RT - Bell

Arguably the best OL in the country there!

Bell is a two year starter , he’s not moving if he returned and that looks doubtful currently . People inside are expecting him to go.

Mccoy can be in there if bell leaves

Bell isn’t coming back, IMO. That is why Seaton is needed. RT would more likely be McCoy, Kinsler, Cantwell with the 2nd and 3rd place rotating at RG.

Ya I posted this couple weeks back…. Raul Aguirre would be an example on our team if we were to bring in someone over him and he gets the sense he is still in line for about 250-300 snaps ceiling. He's (or whoever, just using him as an example) been loyal, put in 3 or 4 springs worth of hard work and practice, been a part time player, he deserves some late career options after his last spring if teams are allowed to bring someone in and he loses the job or time to them.

The upperclassmen that have been there the whole time should definitely have options at the end.

If I was making rules I personally would do this as a starting point

- No transfers until on campus 18 months (or maybe just 12?) or you sit out (unless coaching change or extreme extreme family situation).

-1 transfer with no sit-out allowed before graduation, this is always in the January portal

- players that haven't graduated but have 1 year of eligibility left and haven't used a transfer OR graduate transfers even if they've used their transfers (or something to that effect, can be weighted) can leave May of every year. Maybe other players can transfer out at this time too if they are willing to sit out the fall?

- Any 2nd time transfer above that doesn't fit the upperclassmen parameters above? They sit out a year.

Obviously these are just thoughts and can be tweaked.

And of course at some point NIL has to have better guidelines/limits…This is ridiculous.

If Bell returns and he’s cheaper than Seaton, toss the savings at Wilson. I’d prefer to have a terrifying DL over almost anything.

****(I’m partly kidding, as I understand you can’t just have one guy on the DL making an obscene amount)

I’m definitely with you on the DL. I also trust in Mario that he’s going to bring the right people in. Bring me the DAWGS that want to sleep at the practice facility.

I edited the post bc I think, after a certain number, it becomes a team issue if you’re just overpaying one guy. So while I’d love to have Wilson at DE for some rational sum, we’ll see if that happens.

Agree with everything but the last part. I think Cantwell eventually becomes the LT.

This is very well thought out. It’s the most comprehensive plan I’ve seen that takes this many factors into account.

True. Look at how many highly touted players are transferring out after 1 year. Seems to me like those teams just keep replacing them with more expensive players and not getting any sort of continuity.
