Jordan Scarlett Update 1/26

In my opinion, we just need him around Beard as much as possible. That's probably the biggest reason we have him. No coincidence that him and Bruce committed shortly after Beard was hired. We know Beard can't contact him or visit him, but if Jordan is on campus then he can absolutely talk to him.

It goes back to what Pete reported about the local high school coaches saying something along the lines of "Miami needs to do a better job identifying, and building relationships with, the people in recruits' lives who they look up to and go to for advice". I think Beard is one of those people for Jordan.

Scarlett and bruce committed to miami before Beard came on board. Beard came in early August and Scarlett + bruce committed in July

My bad. I thought I read on here that we got them because they knew Beard would be working here soon after.

All good and beard is a boost for us

so the dead period begins on Monday Feb 2nd, which means if Scarlett is making a visit after his FSU visit, he would basically have to come directly from Tally to campus. He can't be on campus the Monday after his visit through NSD on Wed, Feb 5th.

Getting another visit post-FSU is certainly a positive. Still think FSU is in the driver's seat.

May I ask why you feel that way?

Few reasons:

1. Their program is on another level right now. The one thing I think we have that FSU doesn't is virtually guaranteed playing time - not just a couple carries here and there but significant burn - right away.
2. Last visits usually say quite a bit about who is the leader for a signature. Not always definitive but a good sign. Him taking an unofficial to UM post-FSU is obviously huge.
3. Of late, we don't seem to win many head-to-head battles with FSU.

Scarlett is a two in one. We land Scarlett. Bruce will be solidified. Both are dead set on playing together at the next level.

IMO. Yes, Scarlett will be a Cane. That visit back to Miami after the FSU visit this weekend says a lot IMO.

I really want to see what FSU is going to try selling to him. Yes they have been competing and doing very well and are a year removed from a championship. But their will be transition, a new qb as well as Dalvin seems to be set to be the featured back for the next 2 years and Patrick is already on campus.

UF's pitch IMO was very weak to go along with an extremely weak class. They were basically banking on the kid to save them.

I've always said if Scarlett is smart and wants to get to the league. Miami or FSU will be that path.

What was UF's pitch?

They were selling McElwain and how he coached Ingram, Richardson and Lacy. Who IMO, Ingram had no business being at the pro bowl. Not a fan of him at all. I don't think Ingram is bad but I don't feel he had a pro bowl worthy season.

UF has a really bad class at the moment so he wouldn't have had a solid foundation coming in with him.

UF doesn't have Kaaya who is a major selling point for Miami.

DMoney mentioned that years ago he had talked with someone and they mentioned that Lamar would be a better back than Richardson.

UF has a legacy kid Kelvin Taylor at RB for them and they are high on the Adam Lane kid and Powell.

I don't see UF rubbing off Fred Taylor's son in the wrong way and putting Scarlett over him.

I was never able to picture Scarlett at UF. Miami or FSU I can see. UF is where RBs and WR's go to dissapear. Would be a bad fit for Bruce too.

IMO Joe gets the start beginning of the year. But Scarlett will very well be in the thick of the carries. Could see him as the starter later on down the season. Which is no knock on Joe at all. Scarlett is a workhorse type of back, you CAN feed the kid 25-30 times and let him pound the defense away.

Walton will be in the mix.

I see Gus getting a good amount of carries early on. Sorry for anyone who likes Gus. I think he is solid but I see Scarlett, Yearby and Walton over him by years end next season.

Walton is the best back on the roster and its not close

From a skill set standpoint. Yes. He can do it all.

Not as physically ready as Scarlett though.

Both will get their shine next year along with Yearby

Not saying it means anything but bruce updated his Twitter profile and put university of Miami commit the day after the junior day which has been off his profile for months. You would have to think he of all people know what scarlett is doing. Bodes well for miami imo

FSU will
Come back down to earth with WINSTON gone. Their backup QB was Spencer Whipple good. They'll have to play an incoming true freshman to really have any chance at winning anything and hope like **** he learns quick.
