I will admit I had zero expectations for him this year and I didn’t even watch his film as a recruit. After seeing the juice he brought in GAME 1, I’m almost certain he’s going to be our featured back next year if Martinez leaves. He has so much more burst, he runs through the muck between the tackles like a maniac, and his pass pro is probably close to the best we have already. I mean they ran a stunt with Sapp wrapping inside, he saw it, and put a ******* lick on the DE who had no clue he was coming.

After pass protecting, when the defender eventually gets by the RB, I don't think he should go chasing the guy. Pretty pointless. Just treat it like a scramble drill, turn your head around, stick your handup, and look for a pass if that guy got near the QB forcing him to throw... Like chasing the guy isn't going to do anything but get you called for a block in the back or something...
 
Need to see more but great tools like contact balance and size. But these next 2 games he should see a lot of burn

I don't want to agree, but I do. I love his preparedness and physicality as a true freshman (blocking, blitz pickup etc) but I didn't see the natural running ability of the guys you mentioned. He can be a really good player on a really good team, but I didn't see the instincts with the ball I saw with our elite backs of the past. Reminded me of James Jackson.

He had all of 6 carries and 1 reception in his very first college game and yet he didn't show the instincts you saw with past elite backs...after just 1 game? Wow, some of you guys are ******* insufferable!
 
Looks good for a kid that has been in college for 4 months. Yeah he plays a little fast but his vision & patients is actually better than Fletcher. He is already a willing pass blocking and if you want to play for Mario, yo *** better learn how block ASAP.

It's just one game, but Lyle was in line with my expectations for him.

Lyle should be a rock solid / dependable / reliable RB.

There's probably no one aspect of his game that's going to "wow" you, but there should be no weaknesses either. He's solid in all aspects, which makes him a really nice all-around RB.

Looking completely comfortable and not out of place at all in his first game @UF like he did - that's huge. Getting 2nd Quarter carries shows the coaches have a lot of confidence in him.

Lyle and the rest of the RB's should look like all-stars the next couple of games, but IMO after 3-4 ACC games would be a better time to get a more accurate assessment.

Seems like the type that’ll run for 120 and a TD a game and you wouldn’t even notice. And not get his QB destroyed.

i loved it ... he made sure the guy he was responsible wasn't going the get to the qb ... finish his assignment ... start with that, then we'll sprinkle in nuances
