The thing is that I don't know much about zone defense or off coverage in terms of when it's best to use ect. My mentality is play your CBs in man coverage if they are able and that is what I thought I was going to see when we went out and got Xavier Lucas, Ethan O’Connor and Charles Brantley. There is that old defensive adage that says if you have one lockdown CB that the DC can is free to do so much more. I thought we had at least two lockdown CBs on the roster but I seems I got carried away in my excitement as in reality, it hasn't quite worked out that way lol. Instead, we have seen a lot of off coverage and some zone mixed in. I've seen OJ in man coverage but not as much as I had anticipated.
So since the defense has played extremely well for the most part, I want to learn more about zone and off coverage since I don't know much about them and learn why Hetherman utilizes them in his scheme and what he is trying to accomplish generally speaking. Maybe he is building the defense around what his players do best and it may be that OJ is the only true man coverage CB we have right now. I'm just trying to learn as much as I can about Hetherman's defense and why he does what he does because I find all this stuff fascinating to be quite honest.
