Jonathan Garvin

I don't think it's just one thing.

I think it comes down to what is being asked of him.

I think he should be playing where 71 is playing and 15 should've been Joe's heir.

I think reality hit the entire DL versus UF and they haven't gotten over it. Our OL was atrocious and they were use to eating. Then they went up against an OL that didn't suck and they doubt themselves.

We also need a boss at DT asap.

Conversely maybe our oline wasn’t throughly tested as we thought they would have been going into the uf game in terms of pass rush considering the dline hasn’t been dominant in any game so far in that area either.

To me this goes beyond how he is being used this year. He didn’t have a sack in the last 6 games of the season in 2018 and that’s with Willis and joe jackson playing. Garvin and patchan absolutely should be playing the same position of strong side defensive end imo based on what they have shown so far

Man there is some next level psychoanalysis of our defensive line going on here...after three games.

Lu they dont even know what they are watching.

I literally watch the dude on a 3rd and long yesterday....come off the ball slow to run a twist, while running it he is spying qb...and chased the qb out of bounds to an errant throw. At no point he even went up the field on the play. They have done that with him ALOT this year in the last 3 games.

I think Baker thinks he is at LA TECH...and is using him like they did that #45 They had last year, but isnt really letting him pin back and rush the passer.

Oh well if he doesnt put up huge numbers that great ...maybe he stays for his sr year

I’ve been saying this since UF, he’s not being asked to do what previous de’s have. He rarely gets to pin his ears back and go.

And that’s a coaching fail.

Let your athletes be athletes.
I'm having a hard time figuring out why Manny would let his pal come in and change everything he's built. Especially when the defense was playing at a near elite level. I'm just praying we arent being sucked into another Golden/Donofrio relationship where our head coach hires his best bud and wont hold him accountable for anything.

They said he had 12 pressures vs cmu but still I dont see it lol

anyways, say its accurate (no reason not to believe it), hes just not getting sacks, but hes getting close or creating pressure. i do think as the secondary gains reps, well look more like last year and once Nesta is back.

AND patchan going to a more limited role. He needs to be 4th in snaps given to dends every game not 2nd.

I already knew what was going on but its still a problem. The coaches were that scared of franks and howell running the ball?
When you try to do so much you scheme yourself out of games. Baker has to stop that. This defense is still off as we had guys running through the secondary too freely against a school like cmu

They made franks one dimensional, it was so disrespectful lol. They literally rushed three and stood garvin up to spy, daring franks to go through reads and find the right guy. Other than a bust it worked great.

Unc I’m not sure wtf that plan was, I just no there was busted assignments every other play. Same with CMU, I’ve never seen so many busted coverages. Luckily they suck.

For the most part its all coming in the middle of the defense. I think that's why in the 2nd half vs cmu they took out the striker in certain situations and kicked bandy inside.
