Williams is clearly capable of Escaping pressure and being a good runner he just has to do it more. This is not a kaaya situation where he’s physically unable to do it. Williams even admitted he was hanging on to reads early on in the year instead of having that clock in his head to go ahead and run.

Im with you he has the ability but that part of the game hasnt come to him yet, he needs to do it more. you have to think he knows the OL sucks and should have a quicker clock in his head. But for some reason he doesnt.

The ability to climb the pocket is an attribute and, IMO, something that can’t really be tought. You either possess the ability to feel the rush, or you don’t. (That statement is a broad generalization but mostly accurate imo).

Where Jarren struggles - as many others have pointed out - is his ability to anticipate and throw guys open. So he is climbing the pocket like he should, but not trusting his reads, his coaching, whatever. Perry is better at this. But I believe this is something that can be learned with more reps. As chemistry with the WR develops, the anticipation should improve.

As far as his ability to scramble or make plays with his feet, it appears his footwork and short burst, lateral movement is lacking. But once he gets in the open field, his straight line speed is more than sufficient.
 
Jon may have taken too many hits to the head. Peyton Manning was almost a statue at QB. Don't remember him as being a scrambler. Both Manning and Brady had/have a quick release. They could read defenses and knew where to go with the football. They also knew when it was time to throw the ball away, rather than take a sack or throw an int.

Where did he say he was a scrambler? He specifically mentioned climbing the pocket which Manning was an expert at doing. Clown!

It’s a fallacy regardless, just because you are more mobile doesnt mean you Are good at avoiding sacks. Look at brad kaaya for an example, he’s one of the most immobile qbs I’ve ever seen but even he didn’t take a bunch of sacks in his 3 years starting at Miami. He had subtle movements in the pocket and got the ball out fast which is what Jarren needs to do but obviously he’s able to run well too

Hard to sack? Wow. To think UF could have had 22 sacks instead of the 11 they had. Truly mind blowing.

This and I would love to see more anticipation from him as well. If he learns to read a defense faster and throw his receivers open! He could be dangerous

Clearly he's fast but note that one of your examples was a crucial third-down against Florida that jaron decided to slide one yard short of the marker rather then get contacted at the marker.

What's not clear is if he has the same special quality of a Brady-- the ability to will his team to win-- even from behind in the final minutes.
