Matthew Thomas also kept saying i know Miami lack the back of my hand, i wanna see other places... or some bs like that when he said he was just going to take a bs visit during the week instead of an OV.

... how did that work out?

yea i would say more times than not if a kid pulls the 'i don't need to visit' card its cause for concern. for one you always want the kids on campus visiting. secondly, if they've been on campus so many times that they know you so well and don't need to visit, then if they were going to commit to your school they would have, i mean they've seen everything. what are they waiting for?

i've seen about 6 recruits over the years say that about uf, and every one of them ended up going elsewhere.

Lol are you serious?.... the ENTIRE recruiting board had Matthew Thomas a CANE LOCK. I was banned from this board b/c i said I didnt think Matthew Thomas was coming to UM.

Also his mom and his brothers all wanted him at UM but since he made it clear that he didnt want to go, his mom just said could you at least go to FSU so you can stay in state. He wanted to go to USCw.

Must have been Canesport.

I know you are joking, but there would be posts about clowning Michael L thinking they were getting Thomas. It was a straight wrap when we hired Coley, we were getting everyone. Pete, Cash and a bunch of others had us closing with Thomas, Collins, Gus, Grace and Bostwick. Coley and Bryant were still up in the air. Then the weekend before NSD, Pete started showing his doubts and then there was the whole Kirkland fiasco. If we had not landed Coley it would have been complete pandemonium here.

there were a lot of posters w/ the same definitive responses last year w/r/t Matt Thomas. i'll ask the same question I asked them. how many recruits have CHOSEN (to exclude the last minute offer JaWand Blue situation) not to take an official visit then chosen UM? It's a very short list; i can't think of one.

none of our current commits have taken an OV.

but i bet everyone of them takes one before signing day (assuming they stick w/ their commitment). granted, if Golden and co. convince Dixon to take an OV then I'll feel a lot more confident that we have a legitimate shot. but if he does not change his midn and continues to decline an OV, then (imo) he's not coming here.

you're shifting the goal posts. I responded to your comment that there were not "5 posters on here who actually th[ought] we ever had a chance at him." again, we had a 10+ page chain of posts following MT's comment that he did not need an OV. Many of those posters claimed that they believed he was on board, and the lack of an OV meant nothing. Just as some are claiming here w/r/t Dixon.

I was asking who thought he was coming when the dust was clear. Up to the Under Armour game I swore he was a lock and that was in January. 1 month later after he didnt take the OV and the Kirkland situation happened then everybody was leaking how we had no chance including Ice so then nothing anybody "thought" which was all it was fans thinking they would get a monster was relevant because people who actually were close to the situation was saying we had no chance for months

There are noobs on every board. You know that bobby. I just like poking fun at Canesport. I thought we would close with Grace and Collins. I do, however, believe that Thomas and Dixon's recruitment can be differentiated based on evidence thus far.

Of course I would feel better if he took an OV here; if for no other reason than that would mean one less visit elsewhere. However, its too early to fret about that now. Lets perform on the field and see what happens.

I have no worries about recruiting on the offensive side of the ball, especially if we have the type of year I feel we can have there. On top of all that, I'm excited for the Golden's annual stud from left field in January.

I can't think of any high profile south Florida recruits that skipped out on an OV and wound up signing with Miami. I can think of a couple others that went the way of that scrawny LB/safety up north though. Enlighten us.
I still think he will visit and sign with us.

Bottom line is that we all did the "he's been here a million times routine" with Thomas last year. I seem to remember us doing it with Lemonier as well. It doesn't work out that way. If a kid really wants to be at your school, then he goes on an official visit and interacts with all the other kids that are either committed already or have us in serious consideration.

If he is as serious about us as he seems then he will be here on an OV and this whole conversation will have been pointless.

You are talking about a situation that occurred a couple days before NSD.... I am talking about the entire recruiting season before that took place. And during that time, 95% if not more of the ppl on this board "knew for a fact" that Matthew Thomas was a cane lock.

Even when there were reports that he was never a fan of UM it didnt matter b/c he went to BTW and his family wants him at UM. Those 2 factors had everyone even the "insiders" confident that Thomas would wind up a Cane, regardless of the fact that he wasnt interested in taking an OV.

Edit: Also once Keef Bryant decommitted I knew he was full of **** and wasnt coming here either.
