There are strong indications from the UT side that John Jancek will be the new Miami DC. At first I was discouraged by this possibility; however, after digging a little deeper, it may be a good thing.
1. He runs a 43 one gap attacking defense. See the following link:

2. With the addition of Coach Kool, this could be very good. This defense is made for Coach Kool to cause havoc.
3. The UT defense has steadily improved in points per game under Jancek. They were 16th this year at 20 points a game. (Tied with Clemson)
4. UT played Oklahoma and Alabama this year. Two of the final four teams in the playoff. They allowed 17 in regulation to Oklahoma (31 counting overtime) and 19 to Alabama. Two of the best efforts against these elite teams.
5. A number of UT fans have stated that the offense's inability to get first downs late in games hurt a tired defensive unit that lacked depth.
This could be really good. The styles of Jancek and Kuligowski make for a really good fit. Would be fun to watch.
