John huggins talks about miami recruiting strategy.

Y’all keep talking about losing dbs, y’all just don’t understand that we have to change the way some of these kids view our dbs “lately(2011-2015)” at least. It’s a process, Remember we had donofrio and Paul Williams coaching the defense and dbs for a long time which gives you a bad rep

I wanted Stanley Garner in Storm18, signed with Kentucky, kid had the best Jam/Press in south Florida was 6'3 and a basketball player, he would have been a great addition to the db class.I remember the pic of he an Jaden Davis being coached up Rumph on campus, should have got him.

I'm torn here, it has been disappointing to see top flight DB talent leave to other schools, and it's easy to blame Banda and Rumph. But I am confident and in the fact that almost all of the attrition is do to the bag game. On an even playing field we win A LOT more of those battles.

What I am encouraged by is that this staff actually by and large coaches up some of the "reach" players it takes in such as MJ, Tyler G. This did not happen under the Shannon and Golden staffs. So who knows, Brownlee and Good may just turn out to be All Americans, All ACC etc...
I 110% agree with you on the staff coaching up talent. In fact I have always said Rumph is a decent to an above average iinstructional coach. However while the "bag game" has impacted recruiting why does it seem to hit us harder at DB. We thrive in alot of other areas but we are completely crippled at DB. We have one real recruiting victory and thats Gurvan Hall.

i love how you guys focus on negative, no one mentions how we snatched joyner who could have a better career than jobe, from FSU

This is a thread relating to Huggins and Jobe, we're discussing the two as Huggins did this interview recently. If you don't like the discussion, then don't partake.

Frierson was a win as well. Ivey's pretty good as well. But you're right to a degree, our recruiting at CB/S has been the most lackluster of all the positions sans DT/DE when Kool was here.

You honestly believe our coaches didnt know? They knew that's why they weren't going to concede him without a fight

I think they realized it way after we all knew. We didn’t reach out to Huggins until after he went public to Bama. If they knew why weren’t they reaching out prior to that? Jobe was blowing smoke up their asses for a while and the coaches eat it up (another example is Lucas).

Stop giving reasons for rivals to start a Canes Tears thread. We landed Gurvan Hall at safety.
Yeah he better than jobe anyway, tape don’t lie. People can keep complaining about who we don’t get all they won’t but fact is we brought in talented dbs regardless if a few targets went elsewhere

Sorry this may be an unpopular opinion but good for the kid. Our "strategy" last year suked and while we chased PS2, TC, and Slobee we missed out on samuels, troutman, and this kid which are all quality players.
I liked Troutman but right or wrong, IIRC, there was talk on here about personality conflicts between him and other recruits and the coaches stayed away from him. I recall Frierson as one name. Maybe someone can confirm?

It's a darn shame we didn't land any quality DBs. Oh, wait....
