John Campbell to the Bench?

Canedog will not pass final judgement on Zion or Campbell this year. Olinemen need time but Miami has to throw dem in da fire this year before they are close to fully developed.
I tried to tell all that would listen, you can’t fix our OLine in two weeks. It will take half the year to even see light at the end of the tunnel.

With Campbell, this is a case of fans knowing before the coaches. Sometimes the coach has to let it play out though, since kids do make leaps during gametime that you know they're capable.

Agree with the other posters that Herbert and Hillery should be ashamed of themselves. They both have the talent, just aren't putting in the work to develop. Reed has the most potential of the lot, always suspected it was an S&C and attitude issue with him. Hope he doesn't bust because he could be special if he sets his mind to it.

Manny isn't ******** around. He started three freshmen at LB in 2016, along with Joe Jackson at DE, and Young at CB. He also started Colbert, a GT, at CB and moved Red to Safety. So we know they'll do what they need to do to get the combinations right.

I'm all for moving Campbell out but Clark over Reed, Hillery, Herbert?
Campbell,Reed,Hillery and Herbert were highly touted coming out of HS. I had so much hope for the future of our OL with these guys. WTF happened? Bad evaluations? Coaching? Smh.

It shows that our previous OL evaluations were BS!

I've been HARPING about the offensive line since the start of the New Year. Because both the previous head coach and his good ol' boy buddy, Stacey, are to BLAME for the returning O-linemen. The bottom line is most of them are busts! Simply because Miami may have two true freshmen starting tonight. OUCH.

Lmao this maybe true but at this point it is speculation. His HS coach tweeted it? Then deleted it? Cmon. We can leave that story alone. But then again, what would we do without it

You can’t have 2 tackles needing constant help. That’s 7 people dedicated to blocking or chipping on 4.....the numbers are stacked against you with 4-5 defenders covering 3 guys.

Helping one side is ok bc you can still have 4 receivers out in routes.

Oline is ****. Still, these two guys were low rated recruits that people were questioning whether they’d ever play. They look like multi year starters now
Dont think anyone thought that about Clark. He had good offers and interior lineman are usually rated lower than tackles.

If this is true, and Clark turns out to be legit, then we are basically set on the starting O-Line the rest of this season and the next two seasons, assuming everyone stays healthy, and Zion improves with experience and added weight.

Here's a dirty little secret. Coaches are flying blind quite a bit with players who don't have any snaps under them. Nothing they can do in camp replicates what they'll see. It is one of the reasons so many coaches want a cupcake to start the year. Just to see what they have in young guys

I hear you but I have a hard time believing Hill, Garvin and G Rous were not lambasting him off the edge. I can see him maybe holding up against Patchan who is not super quick.

Another bargain basement recruIt no one else wanted. In addition to being thin, this OL is JAG Central as usual. How many more years do we have to endure this crap?

We have so many highly rated OL and they are playing very badly. This is one position where coaching makes a huge difference. I expect to see massive improvements. Our OL was not as bad under Shannon or El Foldo which is saying alot. I dont care about any of it, if we cant block this season is doomed.

Hope so. I thought Zion held his own very well besides the few times he came off the ball late. If we secure the other tackle spot I think we will have a much better O-line.
Do you really believe that bro?

I wouldn't say 'very' well but he was the best of the worst between Campbell and Gaynor. With his upside you gotta stick with him IMO.
Oh definitely have to stick with him because there’s no one else but there wasn’t a single positive in his play in that game. Nor for Campbell. They were terrible and probably won’t be very good this year but there’s no one else to play. I suppose that’s the point I was trying to make.
