John Campbell to the Bench?

The "coaching up what you have" take is interesting even if it makes no sense. Isn't Clark included in what Barry has? You can't even call it favoritism. Clark signed during early signing. So he isn't even one of Barry's recruits.

Not necessarily. Maybe he was good in practice and then **** his pants once the bullets started flying against UF.

I was trying to explain this other day , Zion was more timing , snap count and getting out of stance. Campbell was just getting beat like a rented mule. He was a mess all the way around. No way they could roll that guy out again.

He ran away with the sixth ol spot and was pushing to start, the staff is really surprised how good and physically ready he was.

Here's a dirty little secret. Coaches are flying blind quite a bit with players who don't have any snaps under them. Nothing they can do in camp replicates what they'll see. It is one of the reasons so many coaches want a cupcake to start the year. Just to see what they have in young guys

That’s a Legitimate question but I think they realized the oline is going to look ugly regardless but they believed it was more important to have a solid interior with the young players on the outside.There isn’t a one answer solution to our oline issue this year especially after Tommy Kennedy being a bust.

Said the same 10 times on here after I watched the film a few times. Zion wasn't good by any means, but you're right, it was a lot more getting beat off the snap, which is correctable because he does have quickness. Don't get me wrong, he got whipped plenty of times when he did get off the ball, but he did have some wins on some reps when he got off the ball correctly. Campbell was a parking cone, and a really soft one at that. Like one that was left in the sun all day. Just a mushy pile of zero resistance, soft as can be.

I liked Clark when he signed here. I thought (and still think) he was our best OL signee.

With that said, it must have been one **** of a two weeks of practice. Miami is just going for their best five right now, but the fact he wasn't one of the top five two weeks ago then jumped over the Week 0 second team RG is interesting, but I am unsure how this ultimately solves the problem of starting two true freshmen on the line and another first year starter coming off of a redshirt year. He wasn't better than John Campbell two weeks ago, so I am unsure how much of an upgrade this is. Lets see how it goes, I guess. Can't be worse...or can it?

It's apparent, by now, that a lot of Cane O-linemen were highly overrated coming out of HS. Which is why there's a TRUE freshmen starting, and if Jackson is correct with his tweet. Then Miami will have two true freshmen starting tonight. Yikes.
