What’s the beef with Joe Z? Personally I like him as the Voice. When I hear him I think oh Canes!

He was fine as a color commentator, as well as an Interviewer . I just don't think his play by play calling is up to par. Sonny Hirsch was tough to listen to as well.

Honestly CFB should just allow anyone to commentate live games on their own twitch like channel. People can just choose what personalities they like to listen to. Would open it up and make it more fun. Commentators paid out according to the number of people they can pull into their channels. I guess structurally it’s something that would have to be facilitated by whoever owns the streaming rights.

He's been around so long and called so many big plays in the glory years that people have a natural affinity for him. But objectively, he doesn't have a great radio voice and his presentation, especially on big plays, is pretty terrible and 'immature' if I can use that word. It sounds like how my friends and I used to 'call plays' when we were kids playing sports.

You may have a point. Could be generational. I’ve been listening to Joe Z since he started. He is like family to me. I’ll be gardening with my Sony Walkman (I’ve bought at least 10 over the years) and hearing him call baseball, bb or our beloved Canes. I even put up with the time delay to listen to him and Don over TV broadcasting. My wife hates it as I scream before the actual TV play!!!!!

JoeZ drives me nuts with all the commercial plug ins. WQAM drives me crazy by going to commercial before a critical 3rd down.
I'd pay $15 a month for a commercial free, competently run radio broadcast of Hurricanes football.

We get one or two “well recognized former Canes, people from here or local celebrities” and a one more experienced radio person to provide a better experience for fans. We have a built in fanbase and platform to promote it. ****, I think this could be done before the season starts. I’d bet money I could even get a sizable sponsor or two. Intrigued! This could be fun.

Don’t really listen to 560 since I moved out of the area, but I always used to enjoy it when Hochman would give them lines to work into the broadcast. There were some pretty funny ones.
