Jimbo rumor

plus, if they fire jumbo don't they owe him like 40m?

I would assume that His TAMU contract would cancel that buyout. If that FSU contract let's Him double dip, then they're even dumber than I thought.

fsu owes him the 40 m if they fire him, not the other way. They will wait for him to quit unless they find grounds for some form on constructive breech on his part. they are screwed. They already know from the uf and tn disasters that they are not getting a first line coach and broadcasted they are going with a "minority" hire as pre-excuse. Total insult to the coach they end up hiring. There are worthy black coaches out there so why would you label the hire like that. Just hire them.

True...but if He takes the TAMU job for the reported $7.5M per year, wouldn't that cancel out the $40M buyout if they fire Jimbo? I seriously doubt that FSU left themselves on the hook for that $40M, while at the same time He's making $7.5M at TAMU. If that's the case, then they made it too easy for Him to leave...that, or Jimmy Sexton should get "Super Agent Of The Year".

either way he is gone now.

Jimbo leaving on his own means Jimbo has to pay back FSU for the cost of his assistants remaining contracts. That's the buyout for him leaving.

Would it be fair to say that given the conditions of the other two Florida teams that Jimbo was sort of a failure in the end with FSU?

When FSU and UF were down Butch and Coker dominated college football until it fell apart, then Meyer took up the run and went on a similar dominant run with UF and then when UM and UF both were a mess Jimbo only got one dominant team together and caught the break of a lifetime getting to play Auburn instead of Alabama or Ohio State.

I saw on ESPN bottom line that Kevin Sumlin was an option for his replacement. That would be a bit weird to swap coaches like that. They are also listing Taggart, Fuentes and Frost as possible candidates.

Apparently the contract is guaranteed for it's life. He get $75 mill regardless. Wow.

I read that too and if it's true he absolutely made the right decision, especially if he wanted a change. Can't fault the guy for taking that deal.

Short list is probably Taggart, Fuente, Babers, Brohm, Frost. Maybe a guy like Matt Campbell but that's a leap that young and Lane Kiffin of course is your mega wildcard.

If Jeremy Pruitt didn't **** every piece of *** in Tally on his way out the door he'd probably be a shoe in for that job.

They're not getting Fuente or Frost. Virginia Tech to FSU would be a lateral move, and it ain't happening. Frost is all about Nebraska.

That's just categorically untrue on every single level.

Recruiting, facilities, history, the paycheck are all superior in Tallahassee.

Fuente is making like $3M in Blacksburg right now, FSU would easily double that.

Fuente would be a fool to leave VT. He only has to compete against UVA for recruits. If he does, VT should name Bud Foster HC.

And Virginia Tech would match whatever salary FSU offers. We're talking about little FSU here, not Texas or Alabama.

The teams play in the same conference. Both have the exact same path to the playoffs. At VT, you're second fiddle in the Coastal to Miami. At FSU, you're second fiddle in the Atlantic to Clemson.

Lateral moves like the one Jimbo made to A&M are almost unheard of in college football. Lightning won't strike twice.

Virginia Tech isn't going to pay a coach six million a year. Absolutely no chance.

We'll see if FSU hires Fuente away then, and that will tell us which of us was right.

You give Florida State way too much credit. You'll see where FSU is in the college football pecking order by what coach they manage to hire.

My money is on Taggert, Strong, or Pruitt. And I believe they pay around $4 million.

Pruitt is absolutely unhireable in Tallahassee, I can't stress this enough. He burned every single bridge on the way out of dodge and was having numerous affairs before his fiance pushed him out of town. Also I seriously doubt they hire someone with zero HC experience.

I can't imagine them hiring Strong either, they're not taking a non-P5 guy.

Taggert would cost them, he's already making $3M in Oregon. Oregon would easily up that number I'm sure, but he'd be the best possible hire out there for them. $5M a year at least.

Neither is fsu. Jimbo was HC for 8 years, won a NC, milked them for raises almost every year, and wasn't making $6M

He pushed and got staff raises and then had to schedule an extra game to make them bowl eligible. Nuff said about his legacy when Miami isn't under NCAA inquiries that took a decade...
