Sure, everybody knows that quarterback Jim Kelly is a Miami Hurricane football legend. But did you know that Jim Kelly the man is one tough guy?

Kelly Green Out

Jim Kelly fought his heart out for the Hurricanes and led the team to many victories during his career. But the biggest victory he ever accomplished in his life was beating cancer this year.

Kelly will serve as the Grand Marshall for the UM homecoming weekend and as honorary team captain during the homecoming game against North Carolina on November 1 at Sun Life Stadium.

Kelly Jim

In celebration of the #KellyTough weekend events all Hurricane fans are asked to wear green to the game in support of cancer survivors.

You can buy your official #KellyTough T-shirt at AllCanes in person or purchase it on-line to be shipped to you before the game.

But Jim Kelly the man fought against cancer and won the biggest battle of his life off the field.

Love Jim. He was a fvckin boss at Miami. You gotta be old like me to remember him playing. He would will wins to happen.

Also. One of the few QB's in the NFL that was savvy enough to call his own plays for his entire career.

Put a better product on the field and quit trying to shill and guilt trip fans into attending games.

Agreed, but I treat Kelly as a good cause to attend like Carter was.

No disrespect to Jim Kelly or Carter Hucks as I am praying for them daily, but it's too bad that UM has to resort to this type of promotion in an attempt to increase attendance at the football games.

I appreciate your kind heart, but you're the type of mark they're looking to exploit. Next week, they're going to wheel out a couple of Paul Dee's amputated diabetes toes for a giant halftime celebration.

UM needs to quit guilt tripping fans like some old granny from the old country and show a commitment to fielding a winning product.

"These hooligans won't have the stomach to fly a banner or heckle Folden if we keep busting out inspirational stories the rest of the year."--UM politicians

I heard that they are going to bust out Yamma Yamma for the FSU game. Heckle that!

We should still fly a banner it should read: WE Love Jim Kelly, FIRE GOLDEN!!!

They're going to put Kehoe in a skin tight 1970s replica jersey and have him spazz out at midfield to pay homage to Yamma.

Jim Kelly needs nothing from us NOTHING..if you dont think this whole deal is to get *** in the seats you are kidding yourself. Go donate to cancer research that helps clapping and attending a game does nothing...I respect Jim and his wonderful family and pray he never has to see the inside of a hospital again, but **** UM for pulling this stunt...

They should be ashamed of themselves for this SHAMEFUL Jim Kelly plug. Of course they had no shame with the Carter Hucks situation, so I am not shocked one bit.

Kelly was one of the guys who started the whole thing. Not only was he probably our best QB ever, I think he also started the coming back to THE U thing with a donation to set up a scholarship after he started cashing pro checks. A legit tough guy with arm and brain to boot. You put him at THE U any time twenty years that followed and he wins one maybe two Heismans and a NC or two. Dude could flat out play football -- either side of the line too.

If you can't put aside your Al Golden buthurt to support Jim Kelly and cancer survivors you are an *******.

I don't give a **** why it is Jim Kelly Day. The school is choosing to honor him and his fight. If you are too cool for that, too anti-Golden or anti-administration, then you are being a selfish **** up.

You ******* whine about the school or team using Carter and Kelly, yet that is exactly what you are doing to be anti-UM --- you are using them to further your opinions or agenda.
- If the school did nothing to recognize Kelly, you would *****ing that UM has forgotten our past and is disrespectful to a great Cane.

There is not one person on this board that said "Al Golden was nice to Carter Hucks, therefore he is a good football coach." Not one.

My friend's ****** grandma is flying a banner over the game. It reads: Feh, UM! Even I'm embarrassed by your guilt trips

Why so angry, Angry Ibis?

I don't think anyone is saying "Al Golden was nice to Carter Hucks, therefore he is a good football coach." I think some people are questioning the motivation of what is an awesome gesture towards a really deserving kid. I couldn't be happier that Al and Co. brightened Carter's life and the Hucks' family's life at a very difficult time and it looks like the players got something in return as well. It just seems a little disingenuous once Three Penny Films and the marketing department got involved.

I also think that its great that the school is honoring Jim Kelly and helping support the fight against cancer. As for the motivation to honor Jim Kelly, it just seems a little fishy as well.

I'm praying for you guys. Seriously, some of you guys, just don't know what to say.

I wonder what this discussion would be about if this team was undefeated, and Jim Kelly and my son came around.

This thread again illustrates what an abortion of a site this is. Pathetic cynical posters. Not all of course.
