The athletic department can't spend money it doesn't have, and the University shouldn't be subsidizing the football program when there are pressing needs for the 99% of the student body that doesn't play varsity football. How about this fanbase get off their asses and start ponying up? The athletic department has done a good job in reevaluating corporate relationships(IE Adidas deal, etc) to increase revenue, but that only goes so far.
The Atlantic Coast Conference Network will launch in 2019 and schools in the conference are anticipating the network could deliver up to $10 million dollars in its first year of existence and up to $15 million afterwards. That should help our varsity sports programs.

We are looking good upfront but I do feel we could be a bit better in recognizing runs up the middle. We have been gashed on occasion by QB’s and RB’s running up the middle. One of the techniques I have seen Simpson teach (in videos) but I don’t see much of is our DL punching (extending their arms) to keep the OL off them, peeking, shed and attack. This technique will allow our DT’s to close gaps better when a mobile QB or DB declares a running lane. Willis and our other DT’s are so aggressive, they declare a gap do a rip/swim move leaving a lane for the QB/RB. If our LB’s we are good, but when they don’t, we get gashed. Now that technique is more of a read and react which is against the aggressive nature of Diaz (and most fans) but sometimes we do have do a better job of anticipating runs and clogging up those lanes. Other than that we are good up front.

We at times need a 330 pounder plus to clog the middle like Vince Wilfork use to do. He's mission was to NOT make one single tackle yes you heard me NO tackles unless they happen to be close Forks job was to CLOG.

Fork would just stand up the center and double teams and NOT move one single inch , Fork would actually feel the RB or QB mash up against the center or double team and the LB's would fill with mean intent.

This is a need to address.

This is one of the tougher techniques to learn. Believe it or not, its a very nuanced technique - you punch (by the way also called standing them up) but then you quickly have to gain leverage - otherwise you are using arm strength and 75% of time you will lose that battle without solid leverage. Then you have second or two to diagnosis (this is the toughest to teach and even tougher to learn) then shed (another leverage technique). All of this has to take place in 1-3 seconds to get yourself into position. Its very, very tough. Coaches always try to teach it, but its a lot harder than swim, etc. To make it work it has to become absolute instinct - no thinking. So Jesse might be teaching it, but its a uphill battle to get DL to implement it.
