Jess Simpson

Totally agree!!!! SEC teams will try and poach him. We need the administration to start being more competitive with our coaches salaries.
Got to give Simpson a big fat raise now before season ends.least don't ****er around at seasons end.give it to him.let him earn bonus money as well.fact let all the assistants the chance to earn bonuses for how their units do in a season.

Miami's athletic department just doesn't have the financial asset's to give out salaries to some of the assistants! One case in point- LSU's defensive coordinator... $ 2.5 million! Yikes. Again, some of these Power 5 programs have the " open purse strings ' to give out major bucks for it's assistants and all that.

How much do conference bowl revenues Play a role in coaches’ salaries? Just curious.

So people on here criticizing Simpson too? Can't make this **** up.
It's crazy. No drop off from the DL play. Also, the guys all hyped up. Chest bumping and encouraging his unit. I'm in the more than satisfied crowd when it comes to Simpson.

Hopefully he becomes a savage on the trail as well

It's rare, and I mean incredibly rare for DL and OL coaches to be great recruiters. Nick Saban once stated"On your staff you have teachers, and recruiters. The teachers usually can't recruit well, and the recruiters usually can't teach". There's a reason why the guys who are the best recruiters are usually assigned to position groups that require little actual teaching. OL/DL coaches are technicians, there aren't many Ed Orgerons roaming about that can do both. Those positions require so much teaching and psychology, you want someone that can impart that wisdom. Kool was good at that, and from what I'm seeing, Simpson has that same gift.

Didn’t say it would happen. But coaches change yearly.

Yeah but that one is highly highly unlikely. Even if they canned Malzahn (which they won't because he'd be due 32 mil), the new coach might very well keep Garner. He's really well liked, recruits well, and wants to stay at Auburn (it's home). As you can probably tell, I know him personally.

Miami has to consistently plan on guys leaving, because the money just isn't there long term. Miami will never pay 2.5 million for a coordinator. Alabama has position coaches making more than Miami's coordinators. Let that marinate.

I get your point, but you chose the highest paid assistant in the country by a school that's paying their suspect HC peanuts(relatively speaking) as an example.

Really? Who?

Which front 4 would you prefer? Garvin, JJ, Bethel, and Willis OR Chad Thomas, RJ, Norton, and JJ. I think I’m taking the 2018/19 group.
Hindsight is always 20/20. I’m not sure we knew that this group would actually produce like this. Most of us were pretty upset when RJ and Norton left early!

So you know his gardner personally..??

Must be referring to me. And I didn't say he wasn't doing a good job.
I said he's a good coach but it doesn't look like he's a pass rush technician. (which is evident by our DE's lack of pass rush moves)

I've been to multiple practices and haven't seen him utilize any innovative/creative/legit pass rush drills. Appears to me that he puts more emphasis on run technique. (or that's the focus Diaz wants with his DL this year)
Not that there's anything wrong with that, cause stopping the run is important, but our DE's are not good at rushing the passer.
So in your opinion whats the reason behind the better pass rush? Talent, Willis, maturity

Fair. I don’t know his situation so I’ll take your word. Preciate the info

No problem man. I just know how much he loves AU. One of his daughters is a student there now. To be honest the school that worries me with regards to Simpson is uga.
