Must be referring to me. And I didn't say he wasn't doing a good job.
I said he's a good coach but it doesn't look like he's a pass rush technician. (which is evident by our DE's lack of pass rush moves)

I've been to multiple practices and haven't seen him utilize any innovative/creative/legit pass rush drills. Appears to me that he puts more emphasis on run technique. (or that's the focus Diaz wants with his DL this year)
Not that there's anything wrong with that, cause stopping the run is important, but our DE's are not good at rushing the passer.

Same as last year. Besides Willis, I don’t see a lot of technical pass rushing - all speed based or bull rush based but I’m far from a DL expert.

The could run a proper stunt and add a delayed blitz through the A Gap. Also overload one side and bring it and next fake it and drop into quick passing lanes. Make the Offense react more to what you are doing and miss assignments. IMO.

I mean That’s all they did with kool too

Guy was having a blast with DL on the sidelines after turnovers, esp the JoeJack sack that was a fumble. He was jumping around like a kid. That’s a guy who you want to play for. I think it’s gonna pay off on the trail.

Go Canes!

If we can get our second DT to flash then that would push us to be even better. It seemed like they were double teaming Willis most of the night. Bethel should have ate yesterday

we need more DTs, he should go get them. As far as his coaching abilities, he is a stud.

Agree 100%.

He's got energy.

A lot more than the last guy we had.

I'm optimistic with the DL going forward.

Hopefully we can get in the picture with the top DTs in the country in future recruiting classes.

I thought the DL showed they are the strength of the team.

The thing I want to know is, which DL coach was responsible for making these guys so good with their hands. GEE is very active with his hands and thats why he gets so much pressure, besides his obvious speed.

Joe Jack and Garvin both have a great first step and a nice rip. Joe is very strong, he is able to stand up tackles if he is fully engaged but he prefers to run right around them.

I thought patchan played well, and he was on the field a lot, but considering he was going against the same guy as Joe jack was seemingly caught by the tackle a lot more than the starters. Maybe it was a speed difference, but he played well, set the edge.

I saw him on a couple of plays, but not too many.

He must still not be completely recovered because he's not playing a whole lot and when he does it's not like before the injury.

Slightly off topic, but did D Jackson play yesterday?

Simpson was a great hire. Major upgrade recruiting and more well rounded.

However, Kool really screwed him because next year the DL is going to take a step backwards with Willis, Tito, Djax, and Joe Jax (in all likelihood) leaving. DT will be a major ? And the DE depth will be all true freshmen.

People said the dline would take a step back after the losses last year, can’t make definitive statements like that especially when you will have your 2 bookends rousseau(coaches were extremely high on him) and garvin(might be considered the best de in football by the time next year rolls around) and then some talented but young pass rushers behind them. With this scheme imo we always will have guys to produce regardless who leaves. And if joe Jackson decides to come back(who knows ) then it would get downright nasty for other teams

Need to scour the JUCO ranks to add with the HS recruits.
