Jess Simpson new DC?

Dude knows football and seems to like aggression. He might be the perfect fit, and Richt probably had that in mind when he hired him initially. I’m fine with it. I’d be really fine with it if we hired an OC while we are at it.

Folks, losing some of the staff gives us a chance to get some fresh blood in. I’d rather Diaz have stayed, but if this is what was needed to get new blood, so be it. This is Richt’s last chance to get hires right, and he has to know this.

I think Mork realizes he’s losing support with the way this season played out.We now seem to have people on the BOT who at least realize the football program is the university’s bellcow and with Vilma one of them Mork knows this hire will be scrutinized.

Not sure Mork will hire an OC because he’s trying to prove something to his old bosses at UGA but I do think he realizes he needs a great D to support his offense.We don’t have anyone on this staff qualified to be DC.If he does hire Jess it may just be the straw that breaks the camels back.

In my mind, it would show that those in the coaching community know his time is almost up.

So first time around Richt’s first choice Aranda and second was Diaz...but this time he’s going to go with Simpson as DC. Yea, ok.

He may not have a choice. If all of his top guys turn him down because they see a sinking ship, what is he supposed to do?

I agree that he is a great DL coach, but being a DC is a big step up. I am not saying he is going to suck, but I do not see him having us as the number 2 defense in the country. With a worse D and similar O we would end up as the doormat of the Coastal.

Not really...

It's a great continuity promotion for a strong recruiter and quality teacher with NFL coaching experience. Not to mention he knows Manny's system, has familiarity with the existing staff, players, and likes the college game.

Not to mention it still leaves 3 spots to play with.

Jess Simpson has no experience as a DC enough of the program experimenting with first time HCs and coordinators.
