Jess Simpson new DC?

Not sure what to think about it honestly. Guy goes from a powerhouse HS coach, to a short stint in the NFL, to DL coach here for 1 season and then potentially DC? Seems like an odd trajectory. I guess the good thing is we know he knows how to teach aggressive defensive linemen.

It's called being in the right place at the right time.

Take banda and patke

Bring in winston moss or someone who's already well regarded

Hire an OC

*mork instead promotes Mike Richt as DC after spending one year as an analyst for southern Presbyterian *

Careful...remember we have a certain Jon Richt on staff. Not sure CMR gives a **** about experience.

Mark Richt had a pretty good track record of hiring DCs at UGa after Willie Martinez...I doubt it will be a weak hire unless the school is being cheap.

Richt may not be the HC we all want but he has been in this game for a lot of years. I think he will make Simpson Temp D Coordinator for the bowl game and then he will hire a DC from his past or through his network of former assistants.

Normally I would be 100% on board with you on this as it is factual. But..I dont feel overly confident with his decision making in more recent history.

I hope you're right and I'm wrong.

Coach Simpson doesn't have the EXPERIENCE, yet, to be a POWER FIVE defensive coordinator. Richt absolutely needs to hire a bona fide " 4-3 " experienced DC, now! But I doubt that would happen. Because one prerequisite of CMR's , is the new DC would have to be a BIBLE THUMPER and all that.

I’m actually fine with this. Even if it ends up being for more than just the interim. Honestly more worried about the O-line, the offense, and recruiting.. We’ve had a couple of high profile Decommits on the O-line, having to go down to third/fourth options.

I didn’t see too any substantial bright Spots from the O-line last year to make me think that my concern should be shifted. I kinda expected the defense to take a step back next season. Manny leaving only solidifies that belief.
