MEGA Jeremiah Smith Thread

So I guess we should ignore Uncle Luke and all the hype from the 80s? This team has always been the city’s team…anyone who says otherwise isn’t from Miami or biased. Plenty of top recruits stayed at Miami when we were down because they wanted to bring the program back…JS chose not to

Jeremiah Smith looks out for Jeremiah Smith, and I don’t fault him for that. But don’t expect me to be happy for him just because he’s from South Florida. I don’t know the guy but the ways he’s chirping I hope he gets some humble pie smashed into his face
Have you seen how this board speaks about luke? They talk about him like he didn’t have a huge impact on were our brand is today

And again the school is not directly connected to the city. 99% of the players who played for the school that are from miami never saw coral gables let alone the school campus before they were recruited, they didn’t have a family member or friend that went there..Literally nothing

The connection to the city came from winning just like every other sports team in Miami. When you see the dolphins losing u see an half filled stadium, when the heat aren’t great its half filled arenas, when the canes aren’t great its half filled.

The recruits don’t have an obligation to blindly come here so A player choosing to go to another program over us is not betrayal…especially with how far down we were in this past era. Jeremiah should look out for Jeremiah, and you should be happy for whoever you want to be happy for lmao

Only on CIS is it “lame” to trash talk an Ohio state ****eye because he’s from Miami lol smh, nobody hates the kid personally in real life it’s called being a fan, hopefully we smack him in the mouth then it’s on to the next
I agree with you. I don’t blame local kids who left when we were down but that doesn’t mean I have to root for them. I don’t. They still left. It’s their right to go elsewhere and my right to root for kids who stayed or kids who went to UM. I get that local kids still look up to them for making it big. That’s fine for them too. I don’t care. I only care about Canes.

Miami Beach born and raised. Last I checked my childhood home phone area code was 305.

I think if JJ was a year younger he would be here after watching what Cam Ward did. What Cam did helped turn the tide for the Miami program for years to come imo.
I Doubt it seemed like he wasn’t a big fan of the hurricanes throughout, he was respectful and heard our pitch but he was always going to OSU in my opinion. The only thing changing that was maybe if hartline got hired here.

Whatever. **** that guy. I hope he fumbles, drops balls, tips balls for INTs, and gets the **** knocked out on NYE.

First off the first sentences is a flat out lie lmfao and u know it. And i don’t expect that to even happen lmao because why would a Miami hurricanes board root for anything more than the actual team.

Secondly you and alot of people on this board are in the very very small minority of people who may be from miami and have no love for someone who made it to be successful from miami

But like i said in another post there are two different Miami’s lol

People like you think the city of Miami is directly attached to the university and that’s just not true at all

These kids never see the campus until they get called for a visit. So yall seeing it as some type of betrayal is just yall having a false reality of what they actually consider home

So no matter how strongly u feel lmao all the players you named are sfla legends because making it out of their circumstances and improving their families life is way bigger than what college you play football for

I don’t disagree with most of what you’re saying, honestly. Making it out and changing your family’s life is a huge deal. That is real.

Where I think we are talking past each other is this idea that it’s either make it out or put on for where you’re from. For a lot of fans, especially locals, it’s not about campus loyalty or thinking UM is the city. It’s more symbolic than that.

When a kid from South Florida stays home, it hits different because it shows younger kids that success doesn’t always mean disappearing from the place you came up in. Representing matters.

I get that these guys don’t grow up on campus and don’t see Coral Gables as home. But let’s not pretend South Florida pride hasn’t always been a thing, and that’s why people still call them SFla legends regardless of where they go. Some fans just feel more connected when that talent also puts on

I just think it’s possible to respect the mentality and understand why staying resonates with people who live here.

You basically just repeated what I posted about Jeremiah looking out for Jeremiah. Lmao

Miami was the first school to go into those neighborhoods and recruit. I don’t know what axe you have to grind but UMiami is definitely the city’s team.

But you’re right, recruits don’t have an obligation to blindly come here. Just like I don’t an obligation to like Jeremiah Smith because he’s from South Florida. And I hope the Canes shut him down in a way he’ll never forget. I don’t care about anyone except this U and this city. Period.

For the record; i grew up in the Richmond Heights/Perrine area, idk where the rest of yall from.
Kendall/Cutler Bay. I could hear my neighbors on both sides yelling when Bernie threw the first TD pass in the '84 Orange Bowl.

I commented on one of the CIS videos today that Jeremiah comes off to me as insecure and regretting that Miami is in the playoffs without him. And, I believe he regrets not going to Miami.

They worried about the 31st.

They know this isn't the same Miami team of the past 20 years.

They know they going to get hit in that mouth.

Old Canes teams won before the game ever started by their play.

Last weeks game and the brutality that was displayed for 60 minutes was heard.

Agreed. They can go anywhere they want. But when they do, they are the enemy to me. You’re either with us or against us. I will never cheer or pull for a player that left here and went to another team, especially a rival. Unless of course it’s a player that we didn’t offer. I don’t care if he ends up being the best NFL player of all time. Don’t mean **** to me just because he was raised down the street. You don’t deserve hometown love for going and representing another city or school
