Except in 2003 with the canes. Botched one of the most talented (in terms of nfl talent) defenses in CFB history.
Or when UGA’s vaunted defense almost lost giving up 41 to Ohio St in the semis/Michigan’s vaunted defense gave up 51 to TCU…

Or when Alabama had to hang 52 to beat UF in the SEC Champ game in 2020 to make the playoff, then hung 52 on Ohio St in the Champ game

Or when UGA lost to Bama in the SEC Champ game by giving up 41 and then scored 33+ in both their playoff games to win the ‘Ship

Or when LSU hung 63 in the semis in 2019 and then 42 on Brett Venebles to win the ‘ship

Or when Clemson hung 44 with T-Law on Bama in 2018

It’s been a new era since 2017, there’s a reason teams like Washington and Oregon and Missouri and Ole Miss and FSU and Oklahoma flirted with the Top 10 all year long.

defense. does. Not. win. championships. anymore. lol. don’t let the old timers tell you different tho, we’re still living in the 90’s.

Moderators, can this guy get a ban if Smith doesn't commit to FSU today?

Hey defense gets you the ball back and those defenses that gave up those points lost that game lol. It’s just exciting to score a lot of points and that’s cool but great defenses haven’t went anywhere they are out there still.

UGA’s phenomenal defense last year doesn’t win if Stetson doesn’t score 42 miraculously.

TCU had to put up 51 because Michigan was scoring dang near every possession, neither defense was getting a stop.

Bama only beat UF 52-46, they weren’t getting any stops and Dan Mullen tore right through them. They weren’t going to win if they stopped scoring.

There’s a few more examples in there but the point is - yes having a good defense is obviously a massive positive. Controlling the LOS is one of, if not the biggest key in all of football. We should have a fantastic DL in a few years…but you don’t need to go Iowa to win games anymore. That’s antiquated thinking.

Texas is probably the best comparison at this point. A really good DL (arguably the best in football) + a lethal passing game and two-three really good RBs with a good OL. That’s why the going market for QBs, WRs + stud OL (and DTs) in the portal is sky high, because offense + dominant trenches win you titles.

You got to have everything especially the LOS. You even need a elite kicker

He acts like he works with or on contracts for FSUs NIL collective. Let’s see how this plays out.

He once posted he was working on drawing up charges on elected officials for Trump to help him drain the swamp and that never happened so let’s see if this comes to fruition before tar and feathering him.
