Jedd Fisch taps Don Brown for his DC

His defenses were not as good as you think at Michigan. They prayed on lesser opponents. Watch them when they play ANYBODY with equal talent. They got boat raced everytime. He’s also completely incapable of making changes. All he does is blitz and run man to man

That's one name off the list.....well two since Muschamp is rumored to be in serious discussions to join Kirby at UGA as an "analyst".....guess that leaves Lovie Smith and Charlie Strong from my original wish list....

Too be fair, as Va techs talent fell off a bit so did bud fosters Defense. Same with Don brown at Mich. I agree with the bottom tho that sentiment won’t fly here lol
Both these guys made their bones by taking lesser talented teams and making them into great defenses though. The excuse for Michigan this year was the talent level on defense dropped off but even a lesser talented Michigan team is way better than anything he had at Boston College. It’s odd that a guy who fielded consistent top 10 defenses all of sudden fell off a cliff

... I also think the style of player Bud Foster used to coach at Virginia Tech no longer exists in college football.

That whole lunchpail mentality and the overachieving, selfless player with a chip on their shoulder that the Hokies used to get—those tough Tidewater area kids with something to prove—that style athlete isn't around anymore in 2020. This new crop is pretty soft, entitled and wants everything overnight without having to work for it.

Game and players have all changed—Alabama and maybe a Clemson or Ohio State able to ride it out as they just have SO much talent across the board and a nasty two-deep. Most of those programs never deal with next-level adversity as they can usually out-talent the competition.

Even the Tigers sort of packed it in against the Buckeyes when the Tigers' defense could slow down that offense.

Wow, I didnt even know that Jedd Fisch got the head job at UA. That's awesome. I've been a big Jedd Fisch fan since his time at UM.

I live in Tucson and know quite a few UofA alums. They're pretty excited/optimistic about this hire and the staff he's building.

They should be excited. That's a home run hire for UA.

Someday I hope to know what its like to be excited about a head coaching hire. :dr-evil:

Oh so venables sucks too? Clemson out matches every opponent until the CFB.. they got “boat raced” last weekend. Lol Michigan conference schedule is 10X harder than clemson

What are you talking about? Clemson’s defense looked bad in one singular game. Look at Michigan’s defense all season this year. Or every time they play OSU... or a team with a good offense

Notre dame put 47 on them.... the same offense that Louisville held to 12 points... oh let me guess it’s because Lawrence wasn’t playing

Michigan plays in the 2nd or 3rd best division in CFB.... you’re just talking to talk. Throwing opinions out there with no factual information to support it

Ok.. sure bud. I know people inside that program. Clemson was also missing a number of defensive starters against ND. I don’t care that Lawrence wasn’t playing. How has Michigan done against OSU the last few years defensively? How did they do defensively this year? Alright, yeah. That’s what I thought. Look it up

It wasn't that way when he was first announced. The UA fanbase and alumni pool have this weird "Arizona Guy Bro" mentality, never mind the fact that outside of Tomey, no one has won diddly squat at that school. I lived in Tucson for a couple of years after law school, even worked at the U of A. That place is weird...
