2028 Jaylen Addai 4* WR from Pearland, TX (Shadow Creek HS)

No. 6 Jaylen Addai, WR1: The son of 2007 Pro Bowl running back and Super Bowl XLI champion Joseph Addai was an in-person favorite evaluation over the offseason and has impressed against Houston 6A competition as a junior. Jaylen Addai averages 23 yards per catch and has converted a third of his receptions into touchdowns.

The Pearland (Texas) Shadow Creek product is a dynamic run-after-catch threat, plays above his weight at the catch point and possesses dunk contest bounce.

However, a pair of similarly lethal wide receivers are stalking Addai for the WR1 designation as Ohio State commit Jett Harrison and Florida native Brysen Wright also feature in the top 10 overall.

The Intel:

Many assume Addai will follow in his father’s footsteps and end up at LSU. After all, Addai is the son of former star LSU running back Joseph Addai. However, Jaylen is keeping an open mind with his recruitment and making several visits across the country. Jaylen made his way to Miami this spring and was impressed enough to schedule this weekend’s game day visit. Miami wide receivers coach Kevin Beard has done a great job of building a relationship with Jaylen and his family. Jaylen has also been impressed with UM’s explosive offense and wide receiver production.

The Quote

“I had a great time at Miami. I learned a lot from Coach Beard and Coach (Mario) Cristobal and got a chance to explore their academics and how they run things at the University of Miami.” — Addai after his spring visit

The Threats

Again, LSU is considered the early favorite in this recruitment because of his ties to the program. It’s always tough to win over a legacy recruit whose father was such a notable player. With that said, Notre Dame and Ohio State are actually the leaders on the Rivals Recruiting Prediction Machine. Both Midwest schools have already hosted him for visits and are making him a top priority. Alabama is another major player. The in-state schools, Texas and Texas A&M, are also heavily involved here as well. Overall, there are a lot of contenders in the race for Addai.

The National Take

“He is set to make his first game day visit to The U after a really needle moving visit to Miami this spring. He was there was his entire family — mom, dad and brothers. He really enjoyed his entire visit. Miami has kept its foot on the gas. They do a fantastic job with blue chip guys and NFL legacies. Their coaching staff is comprised of guys with NFL experience and immense respect from NFL coaches. I know Miami is on the short list of top schools along with Notre Dame and LSU. Right now, Jaylen is someone who I believe is leaning out of state. Miami is right there in the thick of the conversation for him as he makes these fall visits.” — Rivals National Analyst Sam Spiegelman

This an LSU kid period
I agree, but you never know if a kid or his folks could get turned off by the whole Kiffin show out in Baton Rouge
True and we on our bama arc, I remember bama getting dudes that were basically suppose to be penciled in other teams classes and they would snatch them up. We about to start doing the impossible on the trail watch.
