Its crazy to watch that discussion first then go read the comments on twitter, its a bunch of "Why is Jay Bilas so combative?" "I hate Jay Bilas, he is destroying this sport" "This is amateur sports"
Like I cant even wrap my head around how they got all of that from same video, why does it get people soo riled up when players make money off their effort, the whole show is based on them on court/field?!

Because fans care about the school and the coaches and the players are a distant last. Its crazy to watch that discussion first then go read the comments on twitter, its a bunch of "Why is Jay Bilas so combative?" "I hate Jay Bilas, he is destroying this sport" "This is amateur sports"

Bilas has been pointing out the hypocrisy of the NCAA for almost a decade.

The best thing for the guy in the coach cal example is to stay as close as he can to the basketball ecosystem either be best friends with the best player becomes manager become an agent start interning with NBA teams that's the only way he doesn't feel like he went back into normal life so you're right it is like a military example.Just listened to it.
I normally avoid any discussion on ESPN because it is usually emotional, often woke, and self-promoting trash.
But this was a good discussion and I agree with Jay the most.
I do think Calipari has a point with the athletes who make 6 figures in college with no pro prospect having to life as a working stiff.
My opinion is that this is ultimately the responsibility of the young athlete.
It's no different to joining the military in this regard as one needs to exploit the opportunities and not vice-versa.
