*If we sucked on O, then sure but the objective is to score points. We did that, plenty. Also, every target can make a case that they were open plenty more than the targets they received - some of that is on the QB. Arroyo’s production was just fine IMO. If your TE is the meat and potatoes of your O and your main target, your O probably leaves a good bit to be desired. JMO

2024 was the third best year in the aggregate for TEs at TE U in the 21st century.

We gave our TEs plenty of looks in 2025. They had 45 combined catches.

2024: Elijah Arroyo: 35 receptions, 590 receiving yards with 7 TDs
Other TEs: 22 receptions, 297 receiving yards with 4 TDs

2023 was a joke TE production wise

2022: Mallory: 42 receptions, 538 receiving yards and 3 TDs. Mallory led the team in receptions.

Other TEs: 18 receptions, 216 receiving yards with 2 TDs

2020: Brevin Jordan and Will Mallory: 60 receptions, 907 receiving yards with 11 TDS. Similar to 2024. 2020 was better than their previous years. I’d put 2020 as the second best year TE wise for Miami.

2017: Chris Herndon: 40 receptions for 477 receiving yards with 4 TDs. Michael Irvin II caught 9 passes for 78 yards.

2016: Njoku 43 receptions for 698 receiving yards and 8 touchdowns. Chris Herndon with 28 receptions for 334 receiving yards and 2 TDs.

73 receptions and 1,064 receiving yards and 10 TDs in total when including Standish Dobard. Best year for TEs in the last 25 years.

2014: Standish Dobard 7 receptions 147 receiving yards. Clive Walford, who led the team in receptions, had 44 receptions & 676 receiving yards with 7 TDs. Duke was second on the team in receptions and Dorsett had the most receiving yards.

2009: Jimmy Graham; 17 receptions 213 receiving yards and 5 TDs.


2006: Greg Olsen 40 receptions, 489 receiving yards, 1 TD.

2003: 60 receptions, 605 receiving yards and 1 TD for Kellen Winslow. The year before he had 57 receptions for 726 receiving yards and 8 TDS.

2001: Jeremy Shockey had 40 receptions, 519 receiving yards and 7 TDs.

So to boil this all down at TEU if your stat line reads 40+ catches/600+ yards/ 5+ TDs you did your thang and if second fiddle goes 20+/200+/2+ the whole room was ballin'

It’s ridiculous lol Arroyo was one of the more known TEs in CFB that season.

Yeah roughly that; although for the TEs to catch 60+ passes in a year is rarified air in and of itself.
However, even this should be qualified. In the 00s, besides having less passing attempts, most of the production went to a single TE.

I can’t speak on the 20th century cuz i didn’t check those stats. However, it was Herndon and Njoku who first were both productive in the same season. Then after that, we continued with multiple TEs catching passes throughout the years in a single season.

The national bias against Miami and not "trusting" our team and players (at the time) was the only reason he wasn't a more highly touted prospect in season. That slant he took to the house against GT was enough to make the whole nation do a double take, after that play people were put on notice

I think this has trended this way at positions that traditionally were single starter roles like RB/TE or even LB and Edge. The wear and tear on the players in these skill/physical positions, especially with the extended post season, has forced coaches to adapt.

Right... cause UGA used Delp so well... 65 catches for just under 800yds over 3 yrs lol. Averaged 23 catches for 265 yds over 3yrs with UGA.

Lofton had 23 for 218 last yr. Basically same. Arroyo had 35 for 519 yr before....

I imagine they are still selling kids at the position on being the next Bowers. Well, that and offering an assload of money.
