My read (and this is my personal opinion) is that his camp was upset about Spafford and feels he has a better opportunity to play both sports at FSU. It’s a bummer because I think he’s a great player.

If true then thank god. We’ve had too many kids with this mindset and we never succeeded.

I was always skeptical that a forced basketball offer would help us land him. He clearly rushed and settled on FSU here. If his camp was really that mad about Spafford, then that says it all

While I agree our last minute reluctant bball offer may have something to do with it, I’m curious on the bolded. Why would he be clearly rushed??

My understanding has been that it’s either Spafford or Lopez, not both. Unless Miami bombs with other targets, I doubt Lopez ends up in this class. IMO, he isn’t going to beat out what we currently have the roster nor what’s coming in the 27’ class.

Not sure what to make of this but we have plenty of slot receivers and if we get Keys an abundance of WR's too. This is NOT a big loss or any loss at all. We must have more DT's and LB's that want to commit to us. This kid saw the line of receivers we have and UM taking Vance S helped his decision too. Maybe he will revisit us later in December if we have a stellar season.

This reminds me a little on Miami side of Drelon Miller. Wanted to be a Cane but staff were convinced they were getting JJ and the rest is history. I truly believe the staff thinks they're going to grab a big WR name. But man JRoc could do so much better than FSU.

Genuine question to apply to Miller and here… aren’t these big 5 stars treated as plus ones? Meaning take everyone you can and then make room to make it work if you land them…

So Spofford commits to a program on the rise, despite knowing we're going after Lopez and that there will be competition. Meanwhile Lopez commits to a program in decline to avoid competition. Sounds like we got the right guy.

FSU has 4 other wrs committed. Just about all of em are slot type wrs and the local one they have committed is faster than spafford.
