Jarren

I know it’s not all just “stats,” but Ive been watching stat lines like that scroll across the bottom of my screen for years wondering when, if ever, there’d be a Miami qb in front of it. ****es me off to think about 4th and 17.

The 4 and 17 conversion was the worst play ever in UM history.

Hate to be armchair but Jarren doesn't play with great feel for the position; He could have run in the end-zone on the 2-pt conversion that Mallory dropped. He played better than last week but that's an incredibly low bar, and his play doesn't negate the lack of character on team. Dropped passes, fumbles, missed FGs and poor tackling--2 weeks in a row. I'm sure these young men work very hard but we look like an undisciplined and underachieving football team.

I thought he showed incredible feel. Calm, poised, took what the defense gave him. In fact, outside drops and some bad red zone play, UNC had no answer for him after the first quarter. But carry on...

Hit Mallory on the 2-pt conversion and Hightower on the run late too, both good balls that were dropped.
Anyone complaining Hightower isn't getting enough snaps needs to remember this. My 80 year old mother could have caught that pass where Jarren scrambled and put it right on his chest. As for Mallory, it was a tougher catch but he should have made it. However, Jarren had a clear run to the endzone on that play and would have gone in untouched if he took off

Poise and feel are completely different things. But i'll let you tell it.

Other than the near disastrous fumbles and not running it in for the 2 point conversion, he played a **** good game.

It's too bad that:
- we stalled in the red zone multiple times
- have a bunch of overpaid turds on the corching staff
- the back 7 played like complete trash
- Bubba baxa and the entire kicking unit were a dumpster fire again
- the run D got gashed at the worst of times
- Manny mishandled the clock at thend

2nd quarter to end of game drive chart:

12 plays/51 yards missed fg
9/60 fg
6/47 td
11/56 turnover on downs
7/75 td
4/25 punt
8/68 td
7/43 missed fg

That’s borderline elite. Dominated time of possession. No turnovers in the game. Over 3 quarters, only one punt and not a single 3 and out. Should’ve put points on board on 7/8 possessions.

A freshman quarterback without “feel” doesn’t do that on the road in his second start

I thought Jarren was outstanding tonight.

He was. And he’s only going to get better. Especially impressive on the road. Very weird feeling, but sitting at 0-2 I’m actually more optimistic about the long term success of this program than I’ve been in years. Zion also improved leaps and bounds from game one.

Yeah I gotta walk back my criticisms of Jarren tonight. He was consistently good tonight. Very accurate for the most part. I can't wait until he has confidence in himself and the wrs to start slinging it.

Its a tale of tape though right? Statistically he was great, but the 2 deep passes that were short (one was a sure TD), checking down all 1st half, being scared to push it downfield... I like what I see, but ****.

He's doing enough to not lose the game, but he isnt doing enough to win it either.
Completely agree here. But this loss ain’t on him by a long shot. For 2 weeks in a row we have blown numerous opportunities both to score and to shut down a drive!

He led back to back drives that put his team in position to win. Back to Back drives.
...and missed two open receivers for touchdowns on one play and missed a open receiver on the next for a closer fg...he can have the best stats in the world, but if he fails to preform when it matters most then what are those stats really worth?

Yeah, and we still have idiot fans calling him out.

A few numbnut fans are saying Jarren failed because he didn't throw 3 TDs so they "aren't impressed." I've rarely seen a stupider take. 300 yards 2TDs 0 INTs, 77% (30/39) completion rate for a kid in his 2nd start yet people want to pin the loss on him. I 'd say it was unbelievable posters would criticize him, but with this fan base nothing surprises me anymore
