Jarren Williams Three Interceptions

I am in the process of rendering the final FTP which will be a culmination of 19 narrated clips this week. While that is going on in the background I am going to try to strike it up on the forums. Here are Jarren's three interceptions explained from the breakdown.

Pick 1

Pick 2

Pick 3

Roman, with 7:43 remaining in the 3rd quarter, momentum was on our side and I was hoping you could breakdown Perry over his next 2 possessions, (ending with about 14 minutes of the 4th quarter). Imo, this was a horrific 2 series, especially from Perry. There were missed throws, unnecessary sacks, 2 should be int's and a couple broken plays. My point is, this is the Perry that nobody wants to see.

Perry has more natural arm talent than Jarren & yes he does have more arm strength.

Jarren is more accurate on the underneath & intermediate routes, but it's beyond clear which QB has the "bigger arm" in terms of pure passing ability.
I think Kosi throws a more “catchable” ball as well. Kosi has better touch and anticipation. I hope and pray we go with kosi the rest of the year as I think JW can grow past this, mature and give us hope in the future.

I just dont understand how its not obvious to people that Jarren simply cannot make all the throws. He has been short on every single long pass he has thrown and he never tries to hit guys running down the sideline. His % is high because he only makes safe short throws. It like the offense version of bend dont break and it also keeps every one in the middle close enough to stop the run. Its why we dont score but dominate time of possession.
All of this

I think it honestly it was a little bit of both. Just the game of football when they say its a game of inches. Mike extends his hands? Sure it might have made a different bounce. VT defender gets there a fraction sooner? PI. A fraction late? A completion.
When you have the back to the defense as a WR you're taught to put the ball on your body because you're more than likely going to take a hit. Micheal Irvin has even spoken about this before.

Not saying fully extended. He was shielding the defender. But one more inch out? Making the case that it was more of a fluke play off inches rather than just bad quarterbacking

Some of the sacks were in there I believe. Oh kosi is more big party gun slinger in deed. Big risk big reward. But in terms of fundamentals he has improved under enos the qb coach.

Yea, I actually don't like the technique of letting it get to your pads in these situations. Many good WR's will jump and catch the ball with their hands and cradle it around their stomach. Any ball with a decent amount of velocity because hard to hang onto when you trap it on the chest plate of your pads.

On a side note, I think our S&C staff needs to really focus on hand strength with our pass catchers. The ones they do catch away from their body are knocked loose way too often and that all has to do with hand strength.

'Kosi is the quarterback who I watch drop back and I hold my breath because he is just as likely to an inexplicable throw as he is to throw a 30 yard dart up the seam. He is hard and fun to watch at the same time.

On the whole arm strength thing though. Kayaa was a good deep ball thrower but didn't have a really strong arm. Dorsey was the same. It more about when you throw and the mechanics than it is just having a cannon for an arm.

Would you say the 1st int was due to Harley trying to catch the pass with his body and not using his hands properly? Bad WR technique or just bad luck? I feel like if he uses his hands, the worst that happens is the contact makes him drop it, but there is little chance it bounces off his hands into the air.

Bad technique by Harley on the route.

This. I thought kaaya showed glimpses of being a great deep ball thrower his freshman year with plenty arm strength with some of the bombs he threw to Dorsett hitting him in stride vs Arkansas state and uva but beyond that he never progressed that aspect of his game.

Kaaya wasn't a good deep ball thrower. His numbers weren't good throwing deep but he did hit some. Kaaya strengths were just like jarren, the short to intermediate game.

Jarren's arm hasn't looked weak all season like it did on that 3rd down pass. If he was hurt he shouldn't have been playing. Perry made the offense look completely different and if the coaches are being honest they will admit that and correct their mistakes.

Like i said before i think jarren has some solid tools and he is accurate in the short to intermediate game. And i think thats why he won the job because he is more naturally accurate and is more cautious with the ball.

Diaz probably felt with jarren if he can be accurate and take care of the ball then the defense will do the rest. But neither has worked.

Seems to me that the coaching staff badly underestimated the extent and impact of Jarren's shoulder injury going into the game.

Man, how in the **** can our offensive line be so bad? Week in week out it's the same stupid ****. What the **** do they even work on in practice?

He was hit as he was throwing the ball near his legs so he couldn’t drive the ball. The deep ball has been a problem of his most of the season because he’s not using his legs to generate power. And yes Perry was pretty **** impressive but there was a clear difference in playcalling as well. Whoever the qb is the rest of the way i hope that continues and we stop playing in these tight bunch formations and or using the full back so much
