- On March 15, 2018, Cousins signed with the Minnesota Vikings on a fully guaranteed three-year contract worth $84 million.

Now if the NFL measured QB success the same way CIS does, then Kirk Cousins wouldve been praised as ELITE standing tall in the pocket going 27/36 for 233 yards 0 TDs, and 0 INTs... remember the lack of interceptions are more important than the lack of Touchdowns according to CIS.

So Kirk threw a dominant 75% completion percentage while taking 6 sacks, 7 QB hits, and who knows how many QB pressures the Bears put on that boy all game. Again from CIS’s pov somebody else is to blame for why they could only score 6 points in a losing effort with all those weapons on offense bc the QB threw a 75% completion percentage.

However according to Adam Thielen and Head Coach Mike Zimmer they seem to disagree with that notion...

Vikings WR Adam Thielen Calls Out Kirk Cousins

“At some point, you're not going to be able to run the ball for 180 yards, even with the best running back in the NFL,” Thielen told reporters, per The Athletic. “That's when you have to be able to throw the ball. ... You have to be able to hit the deep balls.”

Mike Zimmer on Kirk Cousins

“There’s times you’ve just to pull the trigger,” Zimmer told reporters a day after the Vikings lost to the Bears in Chicago, 16-6. “And you’ve just got to believe that you’re gonna make the throw.”

So what is the point of this thread you ask?... simple winning and losing is on the Quarterback, if you’re a quarterback that’s just a “game manager” then unless you have a historic defense (greater than elite level) than you’re going to have a season like we are about to have this year with a 2-2 start.

The Vikings are 2-2 as well, and guess what Kirk Cousins record is against teams with a winning record.... 5-27 so we know how their season is about to play out.

Jarren Williams, like Brad Kaaya, is comparable to Kirk Cousins.... game manager that always comes up short against winning teams because you have to be more than a dink and donk QB to consistently beat wining teams.

Now if you add the fact that so far Jarren Williams has shown to be worse than Kaaya and Cousins at not just throwing the deep ball but making those plays when it’s winning time, then the outlook even looks more bleak with Jarren as our QB.

Of course Jarren is still young so he has time to step up to the plate but recent history has shown me that fb players are who they are.... no amount of getting older, learning on the job experience, studying in the film room, or work outs with Feeley is going to turn a player into something they’re not.

Cheers to a 10-2 season

"always comes up short against winning teams"

... runs to check calendar...

Yes, it's still September of 2019. Jarren Williams has started a grand total of 4 games and yes, we are already talking about what he "always" has done, what he always does, and what he always will do.

Sad to say but OP has a point. Jarren shows promise but it's way too early to crown him as a "stud QB" like many on here has stated. What we have seen so far isn't a difference maker at the position which is what we need to mask a lot of the other issues we have on this team. To win with a guy like Jarren requires top talent at every position and Miami isn't close to that.

This might be the dumbest attempt at a red herring I’ve ever read. 😂😂😂😂 I Hope this is your attempt at comedy and you’re not trying to be a soothsayer. 😂😂😂

Jarren is a redshirt freshman who has started 4 games. Your arguement saying that a QB will not change is bogus.
1. Charlie Ward was an interception machine and a disaster his first year. How did that turn out.
2. Look at Jalen Hurts. He sure isn't the same QB he was as a Freshmen.
3. Evidently some GM's thought like you, and passed on Joe Montana and Tom Brady.
4. You could write pages with similar examples as those just mentioned.

One thing I've read about Jarren going back to High School is, he works at his craft and has shown great improvement from year to year. We have the QB we need.

Now do Deshaun Watson's first four games.

He went 2-2.

Look Jarren needs to improve on the deep ball that’s clear but those are generally lower percentage throws to begin with... Id rather him be **** near automatic on the primary throws the ones you do majority of the time in games than not to be, while he can still progress on the deep ball. It’s a workable fix, one of the issues i see on a number of his deep passes his feet Aren’t set when he needs to step in a throw which causes him to underthrow a ball here or there. That’s 100% fixable

take a look at this article. Trevor Lawrence has had trouble throwing in the intermediate areas all year and has had a significant drop off compared to last year in that regard. Despite that he’s successful with the deepball not necessarily because of his arm as he’s underthrown those too this year or bad ball placement but because of the type of receivers he has out there that are 6’4 plus that can easily adjust to the passes with their catch radius. We need to get our bigger receivers opportunities on these deep balls as I’ve been saying for a few weeks now

Jarren needs to improve/show 4 things:

1. Deep ball (obvious)
2. Faster mental game clock to get the ball out quicker by either going through his progressions faster and if not there, throw the ball away (obvious)
3. Willingness to run more (this could make him deadly)
4. Take over in the 4th quarter and lead the team to victory. Failed twice so far. Some may call this the "clutch" or "it" factor

4 games in I trust he can improve on at least 2-3 of these.

All 4 are needed to be dominant and take us to a playoff though. Kayaa couldn't do 3 & 4 which is why his career ended up largely average
