Jaquans in Coral Gables

Just put it together that in 2018 we have, in both basketball and football, seniors playing big roles named Jaquan.

Spelled a lil differently, but still pronounced the same.
Random as ****, but it just clicked in my head that it was a thing.
I doubt it's a thing at any other school so thas pretty cool.

If you already knew this, drop that "old news" emoji. I won't mind. lol

By big role in basketball do you mean that he sucked so bad that coach made him start coming off the bench, and he finally hit an important shot this past week that only took him 4 years here?
 
That guy caught a lot of flack for that post but he's right. You boys don't watch the Canes ball unless it's against Duke or UNC. Newton has been difficult to watch for 4 years. "Me" player that over dribbles. Literally the only big shot he has hit and he's played over 100 games.

No. We watch all of the games. You guys just keep piling on and ****ting on the guy when its clear he is who he is. Constantly downplaying his shot is annoying. We needed that game. It was huge for us and our morale before march madness. It may have taken forever but he finally hit a shot. he finally did something of significance. isn't this what we wanted?

I don't expect much out of the guy. Maybe you shouldn't either. That way you can learn how not to be a cynic when things are out of your control.
 
Miami will be much better once Newton graduates. He kills the flow of the offense because he is either trying to "get his" or he is just dribbling without making a basketball move.

Also, on numerous occasions, Larranaga has mentioned that Newton has a bad attitude at times, in which he is constantly angry with his teammates and coaches.

I don't know the kid so I am not going to judge his character. He plays hard on the court, plays great defense, and at the end of the day, he is a Cane! I wish him the best, but we will be better off as a program once he leaves.
 
big shot but i still hate newton and can't wait until he leaves

he consistently kills the offense with his ball hogging. I legit get mad when he gets the ball fool is the black hole. He's also foolish for not passing the ball when better FT shooters are on the floor. He's a 60% FT shooter. Thank Jesus he got a lucky bounce on his second to last FT , that thing hit every part of the rim and backboard before it rolled in!

I'm not a fan of of Jaquans game. But i'm not going to **** on him his senior year during his lifetime memory moment.
 
Newton is who he is. I go to every B.B. game I get a chance to, and just learned to accept his subpar self. The best we can hope for is those free throws and that shot created pixie dust that will last through some sort of miracle at the NCAA tourney (I can dream, can’t I)
 
Sigh. We have 2 notable players (regardless of where opinion on them rests) that are named Jaquan. Hardly a common name like John or Mike. And they end up at the same school, in major sports, at pretty much the same time. I thought it was interesting. Thas all.

So because he is who he is we should just be ok with it and be jolly? Look at my post history , and please tell me when I’ve consistently “piled” it on newton. He’s not a great player, and everyone in my section that I sit in knows it. It is what it is, but when the OP made it seem like he’s been this great guy for 4 years. I’m sorry he’s not, talk about way overrated coming out of high school. Unlike all the people who constantly **** on our football team and live a million miles away, I’m a student and a dual season ticket holder. I think I’ve earned the right to my opinion every once in a while.

I’m not a B.B. coach or officianado by any means but I’ve watched Newton be the black hole of this offense since his first game.

Yea he made a great shot in a game we really needed but I’ve also watched him throw up some ungodly shots when three guys converge on him in the lane when he’s got guys sitting on the wings WIDE OPEN FOR THREES.

PERSONALLY I THINK THE TEAM WILL BE MUCH BETTER ONCE HE GOES BUT THAT Jmho.

He’s ours for a few more games, season ain’t over. It’s either old pre-2018 JN, 2018 surly JN, or magical last 3 minutes of UNC JN. I’m hoping for a miraculous transformation into the latter. It’s magical thinking like Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny, but what else is going to make me think we have a shot when we dance.

With you there but we will need a combination of all those imaginary people to go very far if ALOT of things don’t change quick with this squad.
