If he doesn't get better he'll be sitting on the bench. He also has some disciplinary issues to get under control. You get the feeling that if he screws up for a third time, he's gone. Anything we get from him will be a bonus.
You realize he was the second leading scorer on the team while shooting 45% from the field right? 3 turnovers per game hurts and his off the court behavior is unacceptable but to say his scoring is a bonus is absurd. His elite scoring and attacking ability will be greatly needed for this team to excel.
On an old Miami (FL) team he's a key player. On this year's version, he's a complimentary player at best. Brown at the 1 and IV at the 2 has Newton on the bench. Not to mention Lykes, who as a senior in high school was a better distributor with better court vision and decision making than Newton.
