Jamil Burroughs (former Alabama DT) enrolled and practicing with team. Update: not eligible for 2023 per cribby

Here's where there is uncertainty on his remaining eligibility.

It looks like he played 11 games last year. Good. One year of used eligibility.

But if he has played in 20 games, then it would depend on when the other 9 games were played.

We know 2020 is the COVID year. So if he played 8 games in 2020 and 1 game in 2021, then he could cite COVID for 2020 and redshirt for 2021.

But if it was 1 in 2020 and 8 in 2021, no redshirt for 2021.

Stoked about this. Not many things better than adding a quality wardaddy at the DT position. If he is in fact eligible, will definitely improve our run D and chances of winning some of the games against quality opponents this season. Also, looks like we’re forming a nice pipeline of former Bama players to the Canes (Cohen, Harrell & now Burroughs). That could lead to even more pickups going forward…especially if we have a good season. Go Canes!

He was going to be in Bama’s two deep and played a lot of football there . For our situation he’s a staring caliber player. But he won’t start lol. This is huge for depth. As I’ve been saying “ they know how huge this season is “.
Huge for depth, sure. Doesn't seem like he made a big impact at Bama. We obviously are not Bama, but with Taylor Deen and JHH I hope for our sakes he is our fourth best DT at best this season, otherwise we're in trouble.
