James Williams

Only as a single high safety; where he was out a position.

Question, what safety will do we have on our roster that will be better than James in the box?

Once it was revealed he “played” through a torn labrum many chose to ignore that being the main reason his tackling was suspect

For those of us who’ve had that injury you can fully grasp 1) how much that sh*t hurts on a daily basis. 2) that he was a warrior for just suiting up with that injury and 3) how bad our safety depth was that him with that injury was still a better option than others who were completely healthy
Did he have a torn labrum since high school?

James picked off Cam in training camp the other day. He's been running with the 1s and is now the slight favorite to start at the 2nd ILB position. He'll have to beat out Cedric Gray who is also a 2nd year player and was drafted ahead of him. As a Titans fan it felt like we avoided Miami players for years so it'd be amazing to have a Cane starting on both sides of the ball this year.

James high football iq definitely will help him to possibly carve out a solid career even being a late pick.

coverage wise he for sure will be more advanced than his peers he is competing against.

That being said he was our best safety option whilse here with kam kinchens
Double edged sword, can’t cruit or portal anyone when your starting safety says he doesn’t want to play lb, even though that’s what everyone knows is best for him. See the diff with Jihaad Campbell

Sounds like a great way to end up 12-13. You definitely can cruit and portal to replace a player if it helps the team get better. Some would even argue that you should in that scenario.

Man, I wonder what the Butch - da gawd- would have done if he had a player that didn’t want to change positions. Sheeeeet, he had DJ & Najeh switch positions.

jihaad campbell played de in high school. lol

Not sure you couldnt recruit or portal anyone that sounded like a personal choice or just whiffing.

In fact recruiting high quality competition actually FORCES position switches.

James threatened to leave if we switched him to LB. So he held us hostage. I agree with you on your point for sure. Competition forces greatness but we’re not bama. At bama they switch, here we get held hostage

Tweener who was undersized edge went to Lb. Point I was trying to make is that he was a five star willing to switch positions to better himself and the team

jihadd didnt switch to anything really was my point. He wasnt a safety asking to be played down. Jihaad was a de and wr in high school playing lb in college...Miami has recruited those types forever. Thats a normal position move that he was actually recruited as. Jihad was recruited as a line backer

We werent held hostage...he just outplayed the safeties they recruited. Thats obviously clear considering the year he leaves we have the worst safety play in history that causes us a chance in the playoffs because our secondary was so bad.

We held our selves hostage.

@Golsen82 @DC3 are you doin that today cause of this comment? Might wanna read the rest of anything I ever said about James. But I'll tell you and save you the time for when you fact check. I said at safety the kid was lost. Was afraid of contact and took bad angles. He was always threatening to transfer to Florida who liked him at safety if we tried to force the move to linebacker or edge. But if he'd get his reps in kid could be really special at either... So apparently the Tennessee titans agree since they like him at backer long term. Crazy part is now that he's in the weight room and adding size and learning the backer position, he's shown his frame could add even more size. If he continues to bulk up to where they could play him as an added rusher off the edge or outside he could be a serious game changer.
