He’s got 5 star tools. I’d like to see what he has at DE or LB

How can you have 5 star tools when your built like a super model? His biggest issue is his size (thickness). He should have sat out for a year while he built bulk. Now he has learned to shy away from physicality,

5 star athlete
2 star safety

In a video game, I would like to be his character on defense where I could use his athleticism and do the thinking for him. Lol

He reminds me of the staff overhyped 5* staff but terrible on gameday … james whiff is mario’s clock management

Serious question, why should he play at all? Does Miami owe him something?

This place is funny. Reading this entire thread I have to wonder what everyone saw in him last year. I had the same take on him his freshman year but everyone here was just tripping over themselves about how elite he was and that he would be an AA. I never saw the hype with him. Yes I could see the athleticism but the kid has zero feel for the game and can't tackle to save his life. No football IQ to speak of and undisciplined to boot. I never got on his case because he was a true freshman but now that his sophomore year is in the books I can say that I just don't see it with him. Great athlete. Mediocre football player. The one saving grace might be that many close to the program say that he really cares and that he knows the playbook but his play on the field says different. I just don't know what it's going to take to develop him and turn that potential into actual production. He reminds me of a poor man's Kenny Phillips. I very poor man's Kenny Phillips. Ok. Very very poor and possibly destitute. For all his natural ability and athletic gifts, he just doesn't make many impactful plays. Heck, he doesn't make any plays even routine ones. I don't know what it's going to take with James W. A new DC? Maybe a better fit in a different system? I don't have the answers.

How quickly do we forget that Highsmith didn’t come to Miami as a safety. He moved there in 2011 and didn’t get any real game experience until 2012. Not trying to make excuses for him he was bad but James Williams has been a safety for most of his football career.

He's also getting Mossed in this pic by a first round NFL pick on a ball thrown by the #1 overall NFL pick, and Highsmith had nowhere near the talent to even be in that spot in the first place.

James Williams is a 5-star talent who was recruited by every major program in the country. Zero comparison.

He’s not a freak athlete.

Lmao!

He’s stiff as fack, has no bend/flexibility, and limited agility.
He would be a good athlete if he was a LBer. Good still isn’t a freak.

And I even mentioned Highsmith in my original post. The guy who posted that picture must be a relative of James or just a straight up fool.

LB's need to have discipline. For everyone to say he would be this great LB, youre probably wrong. He lacks discipline in the bac kend when hes not being blocked by a 320lb dude. What the **** do you expect him to do in the trenches. Keep him at S and lets hope he matures and progresses. I He's got a long way to go to be sure. Goes to show the weakness of the roster depth! He was pretty bad this year. And cost us with dumb **** too.
